Do You Have a “Plan B”?

Picking your wedding date and location for the ceremony and reception is usually the first thing you do after getting engaged. Many brides are choosing to have an outdoor wedding and/or reception. The beauty of an outdoor wedding is very appealing. Many venues have wonderful outdoor areas with fabulous grounds and breathtaking views. It's no wonder that the bridal couple get so caught up in their dreams and planning that they may overlook one very important factor - Mother Nature!

Your wedding day dream did not include the skies opening up and drenching you and your guests or the wind blowing over your wedding cake (and this has happened). When planning any outdoor event, it is prudent to have a back-up plan (Plan B). Speaking from a planner's perspective, it's unthinkable not to have one. As you and your wedding consultant visit each outdoor venue, make sure you ask what contingency plans they (the venue) recommend should Mother Nature not cooperate. Not every venue will have the room to handle the indoor ceremony/reception.

For example, if your wedding ceremony is being held outdoors at one of the gardens at a club house and it starts raining just when your ceremony is to begin, where do you go? If you plan your wedding/reception in a local park, there may not be any place to go. Your wedding consultant will be able to give you alternatives for your specific location.

Always, always have a viable contingency plan to fall back on just in case the weather decides to wreak havoc on your dreams. As the old saying goes, “it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.”

Happy Wedding Planning!

According to Wikipedia
A wedding is a civil or religious ceremony which celebrates the beginning of a marriage. Wedding traditions and customs vary greatly between cultures, ethnic groups, religions, countries, and social classes. In some countries, cultures and religions, the actual act of marriage begins during the wedding ceremony. In others, the legal act of marriage occurs at the time of signing a marriage license or other legal document, and the wedding is then an opportunity to perform a traditional ceremony and celebrate with friends and family.

Wedding Plans A destination wedding is any wedding in which the engaged couple and/or a majority of their guests travel to attend the ceremony. Whether this happens for an intimate beach ceremony in the Caribbean, extravagant nuptials in Las Vegas or for a simple ceremony in someone's back yard, chances are it qualifies as a destination wedding.

As defined by Encarta, Wedding Plans is “The ceremony that signifies the beginning of a marriage is known as a wedding. Weddings may be simple or elaborate, but they occur in virtually all societies.".
