What is a marriage? It’s taking a little bit of me and a little bit of you and mixing it together into one. It’s taking our best and our worst and balancing it all out so that we’re the absolute greatest we can be. It’s taking both of our separate pasts and turning them into our joint future. Where we’re coming from matters, because it’s what makes us who we are. But it’s how we combine our histories that’s most important. That’s what determines where we’ll go in the future and who we’ll be as one. Clasped hands; we join together as one.

The gorgeous photos of Maria + Behrang’s wedding have a dreamy touch to them with the light hitting just right on that little fishing village where their wedding was held. Being from Iran, many aspects of Behrang’s Persian culture were brought into the ceremony and the woman who held the ceremony told their guests the story of the couple, drawing the guests in with their history.
Maria’s red wedding heels contrast perfectly with Behrang’s black dress shoes. And the couple’s warm embraces and poignant looks at each other show us that the future looks bright for the pair. But it’s the photo of them holding hands tightly that stands out the most. It’s that photo that truly joins the pair as one; unites their pasts into one beautiful future.
Maria + Behrang come from two different places. Their pasts are what made them fall in love with one another and are also what will make their future as one. They took a little bit of Maria and a little bit of Behrang and put it all together for a wedding that was ultimately them. And now they’ll continue on with clasped hands, joining their pasts together for a future that is only theirs.
