Dreaming of the Day…

Years and years ago, when I was just a young girl, I would convince this boy or that boy (and sometimes both boys) to play wedding with me. We’d hold hands and together, we’d walk a few steps. He in his dirty denim jeans and t-shirt, me in my pastel-colored jeans and t-shirt. I’d be holding a bouquet of recently picked wild flowers (dandelions), he’d be eagerly waiting for this game to be over so he could get back to his afternoon of digging up worms. I’m sure we said “I do” and “okay, fine, I do too” and in my “hopelessly-in-love-with-the-idea-of-love-mind,” it was the most romantic event of my entire – 7 year old – life. So far.

And yet twenty, thirty years later, I’m still asking the boys to play wedding with me. Only now it’s with the boys (and the girls) of wedding photography. Almost every day I get the opportunity to “play wedding” with some of the world’s most talented and creative photographers, each one unique and different and capturing images completely authentic to the couple they are photographing. And that’s what I love about weddings. No two will ever be exactly the same. There may be some similarities, but it’s this couple, in this exact moment, at this specific venue, with these wonderful vendors who all collaborate to make such a memorable day happen. And today, Isaac Hernandez of Photography by Isaac was the wonderful boy I got to play wedding with, and it was Karstyn + Jesse who got the leading roles of Bride and Groom. Husband and Wife. Mr. and Mrs.

And so for all the little girls out there (and maybe a few boys as well), dreaming of the day when they too will say I do, I give you the wedding of Karstyn + Jesse.
