But this wedding, sent to us by Brian and Wanda from Studio 67 Cinema + Photo really left us speechless.

Wendy + Michael traveled to one of their favorite places in the world along with their closest friends and family to be married at a sunset setting in the Mayan Riviera.  Wendy and her mom had booked their hair appointments at the Bahia Principe Spa and spent the morning together to start this dreamy destination wedding day.  After their sunset ceremony they had a quaint dinner inside one of the private dining rooms.

Wendy + Michael also wanted to shoot some Trash the Dress photos and take advantage of the gorgeous Mexican back drop, so Brian and Wanda spent a few hours with them at a private beach and in downtown Tulum.  They captured gorgeous details and a perfect mix of stills and a short film to represent the day.

It’s not yes or no – it’s not wrong or right.

It’s not here, nor is it there, it’s just somewhere… in between.

Oh how I love the in between.

It’s that moment of wonder – it’s excitement and anxiety. There’s an aura of possibilities, of promises and potential. It’s the instant just after a question, where the answer seems to linger, loosely, just beyond your grasp.

“Will you marry me Gillian?”

I love the in between. I love the in between part of a day when it’s no longer morning and yet still not quite evening. The fading daylight and incoming moonlight has such a romantic, soft feel to it and this next photographer, Shireen Louw from Cape Town South Africa, has captured it magnificently.

The ceremony and reception took place at Diemersfontein, a Wine Farm in between Paarl and Wellington on a beautiful 89 degree day. Gillian could not have looked more beautiful and Jon could not have looked more in love. How perfectly perfect, I say.

And sometimes it can be just downright fun and playful, which is exactly what these lovebirds were  throughout their entire wedding day.

Kylie + Michael were destined to have one of the most laid-back, carefree and fun weddings since they met. Their personalities lined up perfectly and allowed for a gorgeous Fall wedding with nothing but smiles and fun all around. Between their jeans and their boots, Kylie + Michael made their style shine on their special day.

The amazing Columbia, MO based photographer Amy Melito captured all the Fall romance in the air with this wedding. She showed just how laid-back and fun-loving the couple were, especially when it came to cutting the cake and their dance moves. Kylie + Michael ensured that there was far from a dull moment at their wedding, breaking into a sudden dance every time someone said “drop it like it’s hot.”

They say laughter is the best medicine, which must mean that Kylie + Michael are already well on their way to living long, healthy and happy lives together.

On a sweltering October afternoon, Leah + Rhett set out to have a whirlwind of fun with their family and friends. They started off the day with a pre-wedding photo shoot with the undeniably talented Cole and Jakob, of Vancouver’s Nordica Photography. Rhett and his groomsmen enjoyed a fierce adrenalin rush with the aid of motorcycles as Cole and Jakob captured every daring move! Not to be outdone, Leah showed the boys a trick or two on her own bike.

The rest of the wedding was a rustic ranch gala that celebrated the down to earth free spirits of the bride and groom. The property located in Cache Creek, British Columbia was adorned with seasonal accents befitting of a true autumn bonanza.

Nordica Photography paid tribute to the unique style of the wedding by offering their own unique style to the photos. The images were romantic with a touch of haze, almost as if true ranch dust were flitting across the scene. With incredible sunset silhouettes of children playing on the horizon, the photographers must have had a premonition of Leah + Rhett’s future family!

When Andi + Lucas met in a foreign land many years ago, they had no idea that their chance evening of champagne and flirting would lead to not one, but two weddings! For the sake of both of their families, they married once in Argentina and once in Charlotte, North Carolina. Thanks to Charlotte, North Carolina’s astounding Emily Chidester, the young jet setting couple was able to share the celebration of their love with Andi’s grandparents who could not attend the Argentina ceremony. They followed each other around the world and made sure to stop at a hometown courthouse for a beautiful simple reminder that their love has no borders.

The day was blanketed in a stifling hot heat, yet Andi + Lucas couldn’t keep their hands off of one another. It was as if they were addicted to each other …in constant need of a touch here and a gaze there.

Emily Chidester brought such elegance to the simplicity of the day. The whites in the details were heavenly, and the flowers so vibrant! She created a timeless moment caught in print, something to be cherished throughout all of Andi + Lucas’ worldly adventures.

In fact, we’re just a little bit jealous that Phoenix photographer Mike Olbinsksi had the opportunity to shoot their wedding. Then again, we’re also pretty jealous that Debra + Chris had such an amazingly talented photographer document their wedding day memories forever. The couple and their photographer made the perfect team as they headed to the zoo to conduct a wedding photo shoot. Any twosome who wants wedding photos at the zoo is a couple we want to be friends with. But we’ll settle for the chance to browse their gorgeous wedding album and witness the love they feel for each other through images.

Of course, they have all the classic, loving photos; the ones where they’re gazing into each others eyes and the ones where they’re proclaiming their vows. But Debra + Chris’ wedding album will be filled with so much more than that. There are the photos of the groomsmen in Converse, holding bouquets, while Chris holds a lady’s parasol. There are photos with Chris wearing a fake mustache and Debra donning faux pink lips. And the giraffe! How many brides and grooms have photographs of themselves feeding a giraffe in their wedding album? It’s obvious this pair isn’t simply posing for the camera; they’re having fun, being themselves, and living life the best way they know how. With each other.

The images show the many different facets of Debra + Chris’s relationship and leave us with the understanding that this couple can make it through anything together. Life may get a little crazy and times may get a little tough, but love is wild. And with a fake moustache and bright pink lips, Debra + Chris can just look at each other and laugh.

Well this is one of those times. This next engagement session, sent to us by the lovely Seattle-based photographer, Laurel McConnell, is just so light and fun. The green, green grass lying beneath them and the quiet still of the lake at their toes, it’s calling my name. It makes me long for that perfect spring day, where a slight breeze whispers through your hair, sweet blue birds chirp their love songs from above, your main squeeze tightly holds your hand, where anything and everything is entirely possible. This beautiful couple, Melissa + Josh, are Seattle natives who live on Greenlake and were also engaged on Greenlake. So one beautiful Seattle afternoon, Melissa + Josh along with their photographer, set off to this delightful locale and let magic happen.

Just as I thought and as Ms. Poppins would say, This engagement session is positively perfect in every way!

Rachel + John were married at the Riverside Inn; the perfect country property for this wedding. Rachel ensured that every piece that went into her wedding, between the attire and the décor, had the right amount of handmade vintage flare to match the location. The incredibly talented Springfield, MO based photographer David Coleman made sure to showcase every detail along with capturing the tremendous amount of love between the couple and their friends and family.

Rachel + John assured that there was far from a dull moment between the wedding and the reception. They danced and laughed, mingling with friends and loved ones. They weren’t afraid to get a little bit messy when it came to the cake cutting either. The couple had the biggest smiles as they held hands, letting the world know just how endless their love was for one another.

Their day ended with a gentle snowfall, giving them the perfect ending to their already perfect day as they celebrated indoors and watched it fall on the field. Rachel + John have already embraced the kind of love that lasts – the kind that is not only shown, but always felt. This is true love.

Courtney + Clifton were lucky to have their darling little Kinley in attendance on this very special day. Little did Kinley realize as she watched Mommy and Daddy hold hands and exchange rings, but she is the strength and glue that binds their family. Her sweet coos, her father’s misty tears and her mother’s beaming smile are the most precious moments caught on film by the ever so talented Amanda and Chris Watson from Oklahoma.

When autumn’s first chill sets in, true love ignites and warms the hearts of lovers. Red leaves, orange skies and fiery sunsets are the prelude to a passionate marriage. Set at the gorgeous Grove Park Inn Resort in Asheville, North Carolina, Courtney + Clifton wed amongst the October foliage in front of their loving and supportive family.

To cater to the theme of the unexpected, the North Carolina weather toyed with the wedding as cold fronts came and went. Again, the couple were blessed as the weather settled on a perfectly sunny setting. The sun illuminated the bride in its golden glow and allowed everyone to bask in the heartfelt warmth of the ceremony.

The setting was rustic, the bride and groom were a vision of class, and Amanda Watson Photography wrote these images with autumn light in a way that takes our breath away!

The perfect amount of vintage flare hit the Wild West with this country wedding. Marta + Dieter said “I do” in the middle of the country on a friend’s farm, surrounded by gorgeous flowers and whimsical décor. With the wedding held is such a simple place, it left room for dozens of hand-picked details like fresh cut sunflowers that brightened up the reception, the red shoes on the bridesmaids, and the teddy bears they held as a symbol of Marta + Dieter’s love for one another.

Jacques Mateos from Magic Flight Studio was there to capture the details as well as the beautiful moments between the couple, like when Marta + Dieter cut the ribbon together to signify the birth of their new journey together. Despite the fact that it rained in the middle of the ceremony, they didn’t let that stand in the way of  joining together to take on the rest of their journey together.

It’s a feeling, an instinct, an all-encompassing awareness. This is frequently what makes us feel incredibly safe as we enter into a marriage. We’ll feel our way through it together and we’ll always come out on top. But no matter how beautiful it is, we also realize that marriage is a lot of hard work. It takes some trial and error and a little bit of advice from those who have been through it; the highs and the lows and everything in between. And when you’re surrounded by loved ones who have each had different experiences in marriage and life, it’s wise to listen to them.

That’s exactly what Stacy + Jason did on their wedding day. The pair had an intimate wedding at Evergreen Gardens in Ferndale, Washington and amazing photographer Mark Malijan was there to capture every precious moment. Even without hearing the words being spoken, the ceremony Malijan captures is an incredibly touching one. There’s something in the way Stacy + Jason look at each other that causes us to know they’re going to last forever. They’re marrying each other for no other reason other than they are absolutely 100% in love with each other. It’s the kind of wedding where no questions are asked; no doubts are had; and pure joy is the only emotion coursing through everyone.

It takes a truly down to earth couple to stand at the altar on their wedding day and listen to their family and friends give them advice on how to have an everlasting marriage. But, in fact, isn’t this something every couple should do as they start their life together? The couple’s wedding officiant gifted them with a bell, to hang in their home and to ring whenever they have an argument. The ringing of the bell is meant to remind the couple of their commitment together. But it doesn’t appear that Stacy + Jason will need that reminder in the form of a bell. They already have it in the form of a loving glance. Even we can see that from their wedding photos.

Stacy + Jason have begun their marriage in a manner that truly sets the tone for their life together. Standing amid spectacularly tall trees, they say their vows and become man and wife; always remembering to appreciate each other, their family and friends, and the sanctity of marriage.

The charm of a down-to-earth personality never loses its appeal. And after seeing Heather + Wayne’s wedding photos, I’m even more convinced that this is true. The evidence is in every beautiful image, captured by talented photographer Amy Melito of Columbia, Missouri.  Photo after photo, the same thing rings true – the smiles are genuine, and the love is real.

Heather + Wayne were married in the quaint town of Fayette, Missouri. The ceremony and reception were held at lovely Midway Farms, and the entire event captivated guests with a relaxed atmosphere that permeated throughout the entire day. Cowboy boots, big green pastures, and even a fire truck were just a few details that set this wedding apart with a country chic charisma. However, even more memorable was the couple – smiling ear-to-ear, playfully smashing handfuls of icing at each other during the cake cutting, and stealing intimate moments together to soak in the joy of being husband and wife.

Heather, a modern bride who was deeply set in tradition, married a man who shared her beautiful values on a lovely July afternoon at the Delta Rocky Crest Resort in Muskoka, Ontario. Surrounded by the families who raised such a loving bride and groom, Heather + Mike rushed into their vows with fearless abandon. Their faces beamed as they kissed, as they walked down the aisle as a new family of two, and as they shared their first dance.

The astounding Cassie Jacklin, who is also located in Muskoka, caught the pride and joy of the day in frame after frame. Some photographers are adept at finding the right light; but Cassi is uniquely skilled at finding the glow! She took a beautiful bride and groom and brought love and happiness into their shots in a way that feels candidly organic.

Heather + Mike proved in a single afternoon what so many couples take years to discover: love isn’t merely in the moment – it is equal parts “past”, “present” and “future”. Love encompasses not just the couple, but also the people who build the couple up.

This city led us to each other. It paved the way for us to meet, to fall in love, and now to wed. It nurtured us from the very beginning and now we stand here today, wearing silk and tie, marveling at how our love fits into these city walls.

They say that home is where the heart is. For Megan + Brandon, their hearts belong not only to each other, but to their city as well. After meeting in college and dating in Seattle, this lovely couple submerged themselves in the heart of their city.

On their wedding day, they found themselves saying “I do!” on the Alki waterfront overlooking downtown Seattle. The brilliant Seattle-based Mike Fiechtner, along with their family and friends, watched in delight as the incredible clouds offered Seattle’s famous mood lighting. With Mike Fiechtner’s skillful shooting, Megan + Brandon looked nautical and urban while standing side by side on the pier.

The wedding party migrated to Pike Place Market, City Hall and Jack Block Park to commemorate the day’s heartfelt theme. Famous sweet treats met the lovers’ lips before they met each other for the camera.

Mike was a master shutterbug as he traveled from site to site, and finally back to the waterfront for a dance-tastic reception at Salty’s Seafood Grill. Glowing dance moves, laughter and music brought the evening to a close. Yet while the wedding day has come and gone, you can be sure that Megan + Brandon share of cup of Seattle’s Best every morning and are thankful for finding each other in a great big city full of wonders.

The couple tied the knot amongst the beautiful scenery at the National Croquet Center in Palm Beach, Florida. And every beautiful moment, every detail of their décor, and every smile from the stunning couple was captured by the talented Brett Tyler from Fort Lauderdale.

Every picture that Brett snapped of Lauren + Wes showed just how much love this wonderful couple had for each other. They knew how to have fun and made sure that their loved ones who came to share this momentous occasion with them, did as well. From her yellow shoes, to the yellow flowers, to the wedding under the sunny skies of Palm Beach, this wedding was shining with every gorgeous detail that was carefully selected by Wes’s sister Sandy.

One of the highlights of the evening was during the cocktail hour. Lauren + Wes definitely knew how throw a party, having the director of the National Croquet Center and seven time National Champion, Archie Peck, give lessons and play croquet with the guests during the cocktail hour.

Lauren + Wes looked as happy as could be throughout the entire day with their wedding party and loved ones. I’m sure their future is as bright as the day that they said “I do.”

On the day of Heather + Brandt’s wedding, the weather in Abbotsford, British Columbia tested their patience with windy air, dark skies and a downpour of rain. It was a recipe for disaster, but the love birds were perfectly content so long as they were together. They were the epitome of turning lemons into lemonade by turning their bright, shining smiles on their incredibly talented wedding photographer, Will Pursell located in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Pursell was quick on his feet and didn’t allow the dreadful weather to ruin this shoot. Instead, he cleverly positioned Heather + Brandt for dynamic silhouettes and used the wind to create captivating movement in his shots. Heather was portrayed as a glowing bride with the juxtaposition of the natural shadowed light; Brandt was portrayed as a playful tough guy with his group on groomsmen.

The windy weather brought out Heather + Brandt’s inner children as they rode bikes and ate candy with their wedding party. Shot after shot, the young couple looked perfectly carefree and pleased as punch to officially belong to one another.

Taking a page out of the Hollywood guidebook, Jessica + Felix experienced a little celebrity treatment of their own during their engagement shoot in Miami, Florida. Armed with personal paparazzi – the exceptionally talented Miami-based photographer, Santy Martinez – they hit the town early in the morning and ended up shooting their session on Sunset Boulevard, where the movie Rock of Ages was being filmed.

Even in the middle of a movie set, Jessica + Felix completely stole the show with their obvious love for each other, and excitement about their upcoming nuptials. Peppered with a unique, fashionable, glamorous approach in attire (Jessica played two different roles during the shoot!) and background scenery, their session had flare and fun that would make even the stars in Hollywood a little green with envy.

Alice Walker once said “In nature, nothing is perfect and everything is perfect. Trees can be contorted, bent in weird ways, and they’re still beautiful.” The same holds true of every good marriage.

Jennifer + Micah married under the sun in the small community of Yarrow, where Jennifer grew up. A dreamy homemade wedding amongst the trees was perfect for this couple, who later spent their honeymoon trying to catch a moose in the wilderness.

After being with each other for six years prior to tying the knot, you may think that surprises were a thing of the past. But not for this couple. Micah had saved for quite some time to give Jennifer the perfect pair of diamond earrings right before the wedding, completely taking her by surprise. The talented Tanya Maahs from Bells & Babies Photography was there to capture that beautiful moment and many more between Jennifer + Micah, plus their loved ones throughout the day.

The couple’s reception carried on the feel of their whimsical wedding, showcasing the handmade details that made this event so special. Their reception also showed just how much fun this couple likes to have. The men weren’t shy about getting together for some shots of whiskey, and their guests were just as eager to have a bit of fun with them by “dressing up” for some of the pictures.

Life is about enjoying the journey and who’s with you as you travel. This couple is already well on their way, taking life as it comes and enjoying the ride.

Alexandra + Matt truly shined on their special day, showcasing how much they’ve grown since they were little, as well as how much they’ve grown as a couple. Family and friends that have been there throughout the years added their well wishes to Alexandra + Matt’s family tree, blessing the couple for many years to come.

Their wedding was the perfect amount of elegance and whimsy with no detail left untouched. From the bridesmaids’ dresses and the hair pieces to the centerpieces and wedding bouquet, every perfect detail was captured by the incredibly talented Anna Jones. She not only showed how beautiful the wedding décor was, but Anna was able to catch so many light-hearted and beautiful moments between Alexandra + Matt, their wedding party, and their loved ones.

Anna also helped captivate our hearts back in February when Alexandra + Matt had their winter-themed Valentine’s Day engagement photo session amongst the snow covered trees. This couple was just as stunning back in February, warming our hearts with their love-filled photographs.

Alexandra + Matt have shown just how strong their love for each other is in each and every photograph taken throughout their engagement session as well as their wedding day. They look even more in love as the months have passed so if this couple isn’t the true definition of love, I don’t know what is.

When a bride and groom say they don’t want posed photos at their wedding, they likely mean they don’t want the traditional standing in a line with their wedding party staring at the camera photos. What do they want? They want the photographer to be brimming over the top with unique and totally dynamic ideas for wedding photos. And that’s exactly what New York City-based (but destination wedding extraordinaire) photographer Gardner Hamilton is all about. At Renee + Mark’s wedding, it was all about the pose. And it was in those poses that the couple, their wedding party, and their wedding guests showed their true emotions. Emotions that didn’t require any direction at all.

Have you ever seen a wedding that looks like so much fun you actually wish you were in it? Yes, you would willingly participate in all of the bridesmaid and groomsmen activities just so you could laugh along with the bride and groom and dance with them on their big day. Just so you could pose along with them and appear in their treasured wedding album. That’s exactly how it feels looking at Renee + Mark’s New York wedding photos.

Running through the grass and jumping in the air. Sure, these are actions that Gardner told Renee + Mark’s wedding attendants to partake in. But Gardner didn’t have to tell the gang to have fun. Or to plaster looks upon their faces that scream, “There’s no where else I’d rather be!” He didn’t need to direct them when it came to their emotions. There really is nowhere else they’d rather be.

So, pose with me. Jump when told and run when commanded, but only smile when you truly mean it. Only smile if you’re truly happy to be here.

For Krista + Matt, the reality was even more exquisite than the fantasy. The weather was extraordinary in the small town of Caledon, Ontario, Canada where the ceremony and reception were held. Krista’s gorgeous gown and veil, paired with her elegant hair and makeup, made her into a picturesque bride. The big day was filled with plenty of memorable moments, captured by the wonderfully talented British Columbia, Ontario-based photographer, Kayla Beiler.

While the setting was lovely, and the couple stunning, perhaps what made this day so special is found in the details; the ceremony being held at the home church, St. John the Evangelist; the rolling farm fields behind the reception site, Royal Ambassador; Matt’s sweet text messages sent to his bride throughout the day to remind her of his love and excitement about their future together; Krista’s calm demeanor, full of assurance and confidence that she was ready to walk down the aisle and into Matt’s arms to become his wife.

Disney once said, ‘A dream is a wish your heart makes.’ Krista + Matt have proven that it’s imperative to follow that dream into reality.

Taking a page out of the past and adding a few modern twists, Maria + Louis created a stunning 50’s-inspired theme for their big day. After a sweet ceremony held at Holy Name Church in Toronto, they carried the festivities over to The Eglinton Grand – an extraordinary, restored movie theater that made the perfect venue for their vintage-influenced event.

Anastassia Pronsky and Bojan Stojanovic – the talented, Toronto, Ontario-based duo from B+N Lifestyle Imagery beautifully captured Maria + Louis’ day. From the cinema-inspired centerpieces, to the old-fashioned soda bottles and popcorn for guests to enjoy, to I Love Lucy playing throughout the reception – not a single detail was overlooked.

And the newlyweds? They certainly stole the show – radiating happiness as they shared a spotlighted first dance, proving to everyone watching that true love is the one thing that remains timeless throughout the decades.

Jacqueline + Craig were joined together one summer’s afternoon at the historical Carnall Hall at the University of Arkansas. One part tradition and two parts sweet vintage, the couple shared their happiest day (yet!) with a tremendous group of loved ones.

At the reception, under the night’s sky and under an enchantingly lit tent, Craig dipped his bride in music so dreamy that she came up dripping in star-laced beauty. He kissed confessions of his happiness upon her lips, and she returned each kiss with an undeniably enamored smile. They were ready to find their next happy day, and left the crowd with a fantastic spark!

Miles Witt Boyer, located in Bentonville, Arkansas, was chosen by the bride’s mother to shoot her daughter’s wedding. With several other daughters married before her darling Jacqueline, she had the knowledge and experience to choose the perfect photographer for her daughter’s special day.

The ever so talented Miles has a knack for vertical lines. Be it with an upward or downward angle, or merely straight on, his images can give you a sense of vertigo in the very best of ways. Looking at Jacqueline + Craig’s wedding photos is truly an experience – you feel drawn in by the perspectives, you feel the warmth of the early June sun through his use of soft light, and you most definitely feel as though you’re looking at a magazine photo spread!

The extremely talented photographers, Virginia and Tim, from Carden’s Photography were whisked away to the Sea Wind Resort in Negril, Jamaica to shoot Josh + Venessa’s beautiful beach wedding. With breezy smiles, Josh + Venessa walked through sand to say “I do”. Carden’s Photography caught every twinkle in the couple’s eyes, every cheer from their excited loved ones, and the final product was filled with technical genius and intuitive shots. This Mr. and Mrs. gave themselves over to the white sand and to the photographers, and somehow embedded the scent of the ocean in frame after frame.

Josh + Venessa emanated a love so natural and carefree that only a tropical paradise could prove to be the perfect backdrop to their first photos together as husband and wife – ocean sprays, warm night air, tiki fires and Jamaican tunes. Their names were written in the sand and, although the tide will carry the lettering to the sea, their love has been imprinted upon the Earth.

You can see it in her eyes; in the way he makes her laugh. You can see it in his smile; the one that’s filled with pride over the fact he’s making this beautiful women his wife. From their wedding photos, it’s incredibly easy for everyone to see: Ellen + Joe will be together forever. Tremendously talented photographer Angie Harrington Mertz of Simpli Photography describes Ellen + Joe’s wedding day as a laid back relaxing affair, filled with warmth and love, much like the expressions visible on their faces.

But photos don’t tell all, do they? At the reception, Ellen’s dad gave four reasons why he believes Ellen + Joe will be together forever. Four reasons that no doubt spoke loudly to their guests, who all nodded their heads in agreement, knowing that the words Ellen’s dad spoke were indeed true. First there was their joint laughter, a truth made quite evident in each of the photos from their wedding day. Next was that their love has already proven it can endure, followed by the fact that the couple knows how to handle conflict with ease. And lastly, the simple idea that Ellen + Joe share common interests with one another. With a wedding reception packed with the perfect food and most relaxing of decor, it was made quite clear that they worked together to plan their day, crafting it into exactly what they, as a couple, wanted it to be.

Four reasons. Though really there are a million reasons why they will remain together forever. But when you look at their stunning wedding photos, you begin to realize you don’t need any reasons at all. It’s there, in their eyes, for the world to see.

Els + Kris got married in the city hall of Kapelle-op-den-Bos with a simple, yet elegant wedding amongst loved ones. This beautiful couple had the perfect amount of charm and whimsy in their ceremony, especially as they let balloons go into the sunny sky with their friends and family.

After the wedding, Els + Kris headed over to their favorite brewery – the Duvel Brewery – for a private shoot with the amazing Joshua D’hondt and to have one of the most famous beers in Belgium. Joshua did an amazing job of capturing the sweet and light-hearted  moments between Els + Kris from the very beginning.

This couple is already set to pass the test of time, taking life as it comes to them, and enjoying the little things in life as they wait for their next adventure.

Anna + Richard’s East Sussex, UK, wedding was a perfectly baked and wonderfully sweet affair. The couple worked hard to add a whole lot of themselves to the big day and the fabulously talented Louise Bjorling was there to catch every delicious detail on camera. And trust me, there were plenty of candy-coated moments to catch. The wedding had an incredible vintage-feel to it, with the bride looking stunning in a chic belted 50s-style dress and bird cage veil. Anna + Richard included their dear old vintage van “Doris” in their big day, with Richard driving it to the ceremony and decorating their day with little touches of Doris.

At the reception, there was a table filled with cupcakes, cookies, and other confections, over which hung a sign proclaiming that “love is sweet” and surrounded by pom poms handmade by the bride and groom and their friends. Anna carried a bouquet of pastel flowers and candy-coated her nails in coordinating polish colors adding a festive touch. She even wore a pair of earrings resembling Swedish princess cake, in honor of her home country and love for all things sweet. One of the sweetest touches of all were the bridesmaid dresses, white and covered in cupcakes. The dresses were made by Anna with the hand-drawn cupcakes designed and drawn by one of her maids. The grand wedding really was a group effort, with everyone adding a cup of flour or a dash of spice to Anna + Richard’s day.

The best part? Anna + Richard’s wedding will leave a satisfying feeling in your heart, sans cavities or stomach aches. The very best kind of baked good. And now the rest of their married lives will simply be the icing on the cake.

Fi + Andy had a beautiful wedding planned, among the trees and surroundings of the magic and allure that Hollywood holds within Griffith Park. Mother Nature had other plans, turning this should-be sunny day into a day filled with endless rain.

This couple was blessed to have such wonderful friends and family that knew exactly how to make the best of the situation. A cozy residence, newly decorated and rearranged with elegant décor to reflect the light-hearted and fun-loving couple, made the perfect location for Fi + Andy and their intimate winter wedding.

The brilliant Julie Pepin captured the magic of this transformation, showing just how stunning an overcast day can turn out when it comes to a wedding that is so bright and beautiful. You would have never guessed that Fi + Andy had any other location in mind after seeing how their smiles and laughter light up the entire room throughout their special day.

They have such a radiant future ahead of them, being constantly reminded of the beauty that can come from darker days. As long as you are side-by-side with the love of your life, you can handle whatever life throws at you, just like Fi + Andy did on their wedding day.

Super talented Darryl D. Smith and Kali Rogers of West Monroe, Louisiana’s Rhedeont Photography was witness to such a love when he shot Ashley + Davin on their dreamy and stress-free wedding day. He captured a smooth light on everyone’s face, from the bride and groom to their friends and family. It’s a beautiful style that will cause you to melt with the warmth of true felicity.

Ashley + Davin shared separate but equally jubilant grins as they prepared to walk down the cobbled Southern aisle, and then shared the sweetest of kisses as they joined their lives as husband and wife. They moved as one during the ceremony, and they moved as one on the dance floor as they celebrated their happy union cheek to cheek. They were thrilled that their everlasting honeymoon had just begun!

Darryl’s lens found the couple’s smiling faces beaming back at him throughout the day and he was able to freeze the euphoria of the beginning of their marriage in time with his incredible craft. His personal style reflects sunshine in a snapshot – even when those snapshots are in black and white.

I feel secure in our future as husband and wife because of what your hands say to me. They brush the hair out of eyes, trace hearts on my skin, dry my tears and pull me up when I stumble through this life. On their own, these hands of ours have such stories to tell; intertwined, they have pages upon pages of prose still unwritten.

The awe-inspiring photographer, Julian Kanz located in Cinque Terre, Italy, photographed Melanie + Axel’s wedding in a way that brought a sense of surrealism to their day. He caught the deepest of shimmering blues on the summer waters of Lake Como with his lens – every shot seems as though it fell out of a fantastic dream! He also showed an intuition for interesting angles which takes his photos from beautiful momentoes to works of contemporary art.

As Melanie + Axel allowed their hands to lead them through their incredible wedding day, Julian Kanz expertly documented these ever-so-subtle movements – the opening of the bridal suite door; tying a lovely corsage to Melanie’s wrist; guests holding hands on their way to their seats; the excited clutch of the bouquet; showing off the matching wedding rings; friends clinking champagne flutes; bride and groom pulling each other into a long embrace and then throwing themselves into the air with carefree abandon!

Months of talking, decision-making, planning. All for that perfect moment. The one where you stand in front of your family and friends and finally say “I do” to the love of your life. It happens in a rush. A flash. An instant and then it’s over. You’re married. All of your planning and hard work has paid off. All that remains are the memories. And your future set out wide open before you, bright as can be.

Stephanie + Eric’s wedding was the stuff dreams are made of, and Isaac and Morgan of Mawwiage Films were there to capture the day forever. The entire video gives the feeling of complete serenity. The couple have their first look down a tree-lined path by the water, with a swan floating by, Stephanie clutching a bountiful bouquet of brightly colored sunflowers. The weather is perfectly bright and sunny and the bride and groom look absolutely stunning as they walk down the aisle with smiles on their faces.

In the video, all of the chaos is eliminated from Stephanie + Eric’s wedding day. There’s no stress; no wondering if everyone’s where they’re supposed to be or if the cake is on the right table. It’s simply perfection. Sunflowers make frequent appearances throughout the video; little flashes of yellow sunlight.

As those flashes of yellow are carried throughout the film, they give us a feeling of comfort and security. Stephanie + Eric help us realize that marriage really is about serenity and togetherness. Take these golden moments and treasure them forever. And no matter what comes, learn to find those flashes of yellow sunlight.

And I smile.

On a brilliant summer afternoon, Stephanie + Eric vowed to love each other… for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad, forever and ever. Because for them, home wasn’t a place, it was a person. It was him and her, wherever they went, from here until eternity. In front of their closest friends and family, on the beautiful grounds of St. Francis’ outdoor chapel at the Evergreen Conference Center of Oakhurst, California, Stephanie + Eric became husband and wife.

Their photographer, Nate Goins, told the beautiful story of these two – capturing all the magnificent details, the intimate moments they’ll treasure for lifetimes to come, and the hilarious “you had to be there” moments their family and friends are still talking about.

The couple were married in a gorgeous backyard ceremony, with an amazing view of a vineyard. This wedding was the perfect mix of vintage meets modern. The groomsmen arrived to the ceremony abroad a vintage firetruck, which was also a key element in the wedding. With a bride walking down the aisle wearing hot pink shoes, flowers girls called “bubble fairies” and ring bearers called “ring warriors”, of course this wedding is bound to be cool! With a lovely touch of romance, as a way to honor the parents and grandparents of the bride and groom, roses were presented by the couple.

Here’s a great example of how “practice makes perfect”; when the couple first started dating, they had a horrible first kiss! As a way to help them with their kiss during the ceremony, one of the groomsmen explained how to ‘properly’ kiss the bride. Thank goodness for friends, too funny!

If that’s a marriage, then there’s only one way to have the ultimate wedding. Take the incredibly talented Isabelle Hesselberg and Emmi-Sabina Forsberg of 2 Brides Photography in Sweden, throw in a gorgeous bride like Maria and her dashing groom, Behrang, and mix it all up with the things that make each of them who they are.

The gorgeous photos of Maria + Behrang’s wedding have a dreamy touch to them with the light hitting just right on that little fishing village where their wedding was held. Being from Iran, many aspects of Behrang’s Persian culture were brought into the ceremony and the woman who held the ceremony told their guests the story of the couple, drawing the guests in with their history.

Maria’s red wedding heels contrast perfectly with Behrang’s black dress shoes. And the couple’s warm embraces and poignant looks at each other show us that the future looks bright for the pair. But it’s the photo of them holding hands tightly that stands out the most. It’s that photo that truly joins the pair as one; unites their pasts into one beautiful future.

Maria + Behrang come from two different places. Their pasts are what made them fall in love with one another and are also what will make their future as one. They took a little bit of Maria and a little bit of Behrang and put it all together for a wedding that was ultimately them. And now they’ll continue on with clasped hands, joining their pasts together for a future that is only theirs.

The definition of love is difficult to put into words. But Greenville, South Carolina, photographer Jana Candler had no problem putting the definition of love into photos when she shot Jenny + Jeff’s wedding. The couple made her job quite easy, as they couldn’t stop gazing at one each other throughout the day. Of course, there weren’t literal sparks flying through the air, but even a quick glance at the photos will have you seeing sparks of light and love.

You can see it in the way their eyes connect and in the way their almost identical smiles appear as they look at one another. And you can’t deny it in the way their arms reach for each other and the way their bodies move closer. It’s love. And though you might find a differing definition in the dictionary, it’s the photos that truly speak a million words.

What’s the definition of love? If you ever struggle to put it into words, take a glance at Jenny + Jeff’s wedding photos and the answer will come flooding back to you.

Tremendously talented Arizona-based wedding photographer Mike Olbinski knows this more than anyone and his photos show it. The images from Candice + David’s wedding are more than just photos. They’re moments frozen in time. Moments that Candice + David will be able to look at years from now and instantly recall their feelings from that day. It’s in the little things, like the way you can see the smiles on their faces, even through their deep and passionate kiss. And the way Candice presses her face against David’s back with a look in her eyes that says she knows he’ll always be there for her.

But it’s more than just stepping outside of himself. In many cases, it’s actually putting himself in a different place and a different time. At Candice + David’s wedding, Mike put himself into the shoes of Candice’s parents. He thought about his own daughter’s eventual wedding and the way he’ll feel on that day; the images he’ll want the photographer to catch as she enters into a marriage with the love of her life. And he took those photos. He snapped them one by one, knowing he was doing it for Candice + David. That he was doing it for their parents. And that he was doing it for himself.

As one of the most followed wedding photographers on the Best Wedding Photographers on Google Plus list, it’s obvious Mike steps outside of himself and into the shoes of others for each wedding he photographs. He’s there, always looking for the perfect angle and snapping away. But he’s standing in other shoes; catching the moments that will remain forever. For the love of the couple.

In the spirit of courtly love, Kirsty + Joe celebrated their union in a most intimate setting – Barley Hall, York, England. Within the walls of this ivy-laced medieval home, they invited their closest family and friends, along with the sensational Dobra Crowley of Crowley Photography who is also based in York, England, to share in the joy of their wedded bliss.

Crowley did a masterful job of catching tiny moments between the guests; a boutonnière adjustment here, a hearty laugh there. There’s a deliciously voyeuristic semblance to her style that leaves us feeling as though we’ve secretly peered through Barley Hall’s windows. The velvety shots breathe movement into this collection of memories.

Kirsty poured her promise of love and adoration into molten silver and sealed her vows with a ring made of love. As a couple who knows how to build with their hands – be it a candied cherry cupcake, a wedding band, or a great foundation for their marriage – Kirsty + Joe have a love that will surely go down in history.

Home truly is where the heart is for this beautiful couple. Melissa + German grew up just a few blocks away from each other, yet had no idea the other one existed. Years later, after German had traveled the country and even spent time abroad, he returned home to find the girl of his dreams, right there in his hometown.

Both Melissa + German are equal parts romantic and charming, sharing their first date, picnicking and painting, in the gorgeous Liberty State Park. Their engagement photography, shot by the absolutely stunning photographer Feuza Reis of New Jersey, took them back in time to where they shared that special moment. Between the ice cream and the train tracks, Feuza did an amazing job at capturing just how fun-loving and magical this couple truly is. After a beautiful engagement shoot under the sun and their love to spend their time together outdoors, I can just imagine how bright and sunny their wedding will be.

You don’t have to travel far to find the person that completes you – you just have to look in the right place. Melissa + German are perfect examples of this.

No matter the path it takes, chemistry finds two counterparts, and creates an undeniable stir of emotions between the pair that cannot be discovered or duplicated with anyone else.

Heidi + Nick have that chemistry. It’s genuine, deep-rooted and obvious to anyone who spends even a small amount of time around them. It’s this chemistry that helped shape their wedding into a charming display of personal touches and emotion-filled moments.

Captured by the lovely and talented Owen Sound, Ontario-based photographer, Sophia Lemon, Heidi + Nick’s big day could be summed up in three words – organic, romantic, and real– a representation very true to the couple themselves.

Handcrafted details were found scattered among classically beautiful bouquets, vintage-inspired attire and breathtaking centerpieces. Happy tears fell from Heidi’s eyes when Nick surprised her with a stunning wedding band during the ceremony. Even their dog joined in the celebration – barking along with family and friends’ laughter and applause when the couple finished saying their ‘I do’s.’

It’s apparent that chemistry is essential to start a romance. However, if chemistry can develop into something pure and inspiring, it can be the foundation for a lifetime.

And yet twenty, thirty years later, I’m still asking the boys to play wedding with me. Only now it’s with the boys (and the girls) of wedding photography. Almost every day I get the opportunity to “play wedding” with some of the world’s most talented and creative photographers, each one unique and different and capturing images completely authentic to the couple they are photographing. And that’s what I love about weddings. No two will ever be exactly the same. There may be some similarities, but it’s this couple, in this exact moment, at this specific venue, with these wonderful vendors who all collaborate to make such a memorable day happen. And today, Isaac Hernandez of Photography by Isaac was the wonderful boy I got to play wedding with, and it was Karstyn + Jesse who got the leading roles of Bride and Groom. Husband and Wife. Mr. and Mrs.

And so for all the little girls out there (and maybe a few boys as well), dreaming of the day when they too will say I do, I give you the wedding of Karstyn + Jesse.

When you have a backyard as beautiful as Erin’s, it’s pretty easy to decide where you’ll be holding your wedding ceremony and reception. With tall slender trees shooting straight up to the sky, a perfectly secluded yard, and a beautifully refreshing pool, Erin + Seth’s Ashland, Virginia, wedding was in one of the most perfect locations we’ve seen in a long time. Their extremely talented photographer, Greenville, South Carolina-based Christina Heaston, made sure to catch the perfect shots. The wedding gown hanging from a tree, blowing slightly with the breeze. The single strand of pearls, blending into the tree’s bark. And a big white tent filled with Erin + Seth’s friends and family.

One of the most awe-inspiring aspects of this couple’s wedding is how perfectly the dress and decor go with their surroundings. They likely knew that the forest backdrop was more than enough to impress and thus went with a simple, but stunning, theme for the rest of their day. Erin’s bridesmaids looked elegant, but airy in their beautiful purple dresses. And Erin + Seth looked completely natural with one another, gazing into each others eyes and sharing genuine smiles throughout the affair. And, of course, we love that the pair’s guests weren’t shy about dipping their feet into the pool and simply relaxing and enjoying the day. Just like the trees in Erin’s backyard, Erin + Seth will continue to grow together, reaching for the sky.

Lianne + Ed made it to the top together. Earlier in their relationship, the couple were in school together, working toward becoming CA’s. Whenever the pair received their exam scores, Ed would wait for Lianne to open hers first. If she didn’t pass, he wasn’t going to open his, until she got that passing grade. Ed never had to wait because Lianne passed with flying colors every time. But through it all, he knew he was never going to leave her behind. They were going it together. As one.

When Lianne + Ed asked Toronto-based photographer Nick Bicanic to photograph their wedding day, they made a decision that they’ll be thankful for forever. Nick understood their togetherness. He got what it was that made this pair so special. And he utilized his incredible talent to produce a series of black and white photos portraying their stunningly elegant wedding.

From the embraces by the full-length windows to their grand entrance into the wedding reception, it’s clear Lianne + Ed are never going to let each other go. With their absolutely adorable daughter and son, this family has melded into one. A team. A marriage. A family. They’re in it together and they’re succeeding all the way.

Where am I going, who am I really and where will I be? The questions were endless and the answers, never quite within reach. In the mere minutes before we met, those thoughts were still very much present, unaware that the answer loomed so close. Two finger tips grazed, two pairs of eyes connected, two hearts began beating in tandem. You were there and suddenly, where I was going and who I’d become didn’t matter much anymore. Because I knew the moment we met, where you go, is where I want to be.

When Rebecca + Ryder joined family and friends for a very personal and touching wedding at Rebecca’s family home overlooking the water in Val-des-Monts, Quebec, they knew right where they belonged. And the only thing that mattered, was they would be riding out life’s adventures together,  for the rest of their lives. And Anna Jones of Anna Jones Photography, captured the beginning of their lives together, with the intimacy and grace of a true professional.

There were several specific details that Rebecca + Ryder put a lot of extra thought into, and made the day that much more meaningful to them. Rebecca, an old soul with a passion for poetry, together with her fiance, wrote a very poetic ceremony, personally and individually making reference to each of the guests in attendance.

Together they’ve traveled to many beautiful destinations and have plans to visit many more in the future, now, as husband and wife. And to pay tribute to this, they used some of their personal photographs from their travels for table descriptions and seating chart. With a unique twist to the typical “wedding guest book,” they asked their guests to fill out post cards from various cities and countries with the instructions, “Let where you have been, guide where we are going…”

I have a feeling Rebecca + Ryder know one thing for sure… wherever they are, it’s where they want to be. So tell me {BWB} readers, where are you going?

Of course, a royal wedding needs a photographer fit for royalty, as well. And Kristie + Taylor found him in Springfield, Missouri’s David Coleman of D Coleman Photography. Coleman photographed the couple in a completely royal-inspired way, while also catching their real “common” moments. He shows them as a couple fit for the throne, but with an incredibly deep love for one another. While royal photos can sometimes be posed and stuffy, Coleman caught many of Kristie + Taylor’s candid moments, with their mouths open in laughter and with their secret looks at each other when they forget they’re being watched.

The royal blue bridesmaid dresses, the purple flowers and touches, and the dainty tiara atop Kristie’s head all contributed to the majestic feel. My eyes keep naturally drifting back to the photo of Kristie + Taylor walking out of their reception venue with their “kingdom” of loved ones guiding their way with sparklers. But unlike a royal kingdom’s subjects, these are the people who truly love Kristie + Taylor and are genuinely ecstatic for the future that they’re beginning to build together.

There’s nothing quite like a royal wedding. Unless it’s with a real couple, most genuinely in love.

Incredibly talented photographer Jessica Lund of St. Eriksplan, Stockholm, Sweden, knew the old stone wall would make the perfect contrast to the marriage of Mia + Stefan. It’s their wedding day and the couple is exquisitely dressed and prepared to begin their joyous married life together. As they stand in front of the old wall, it’s difficult not to gasp out in awe as you notice their true youthful beauty matched against the weathered splendor of the wall.

The worn wall is also a stark contrast to the rest of Mia + Stefan’s wedding celebration. The day is clearly filled with a plethora of love, as friends and relatives hug and kiss the newly married couple and Mia + Stefan themselves steal kisses with each other under the table. The flowers are brightly colored and cheerful, as are the dresses of the wedding attendants.

But our eyes continue to be drawn back to those photos of Mia + Stefan standing against the stone wall. The wall that continues to bring forth fresh growth and color. The wall that could likely teach us much about marriage and love. How to grow old, while always flourishing with new life and hope.

Monica + Ian’s wedding was truly an international affair. With Monica originally from Chile and Ian from London, they hired incredible destination wedding photographer Gardner Hamilton when they were living in Dubai. Their big day ultimately took place in Santiago, Chile, and included elements like a 1937 Vintage Black Citroen car and a beautiful city skyline.

The bride and groom’s chic clothing and accessories were also matters of an international kind. In fact, Ian’s funky plaid suit came straight from London and Monica’s posh wedding gown was purchased in Dubai, before making stops in London and Chile. As Gardner so eloquently puts it, even the dress has a passport.

In viewing their wedding photos, I keep imagining Gardner yelling out, “Strut your stuff! Show me your style.” But something tells me he didn’t have to. Monica + Ian didn’t need any cues. They simply acted as their naturally stylish selves and he caught it all on camera in his own impressive way. When even your dress has a passport, you’re bound to have a wedding photo shoot that belongs in the fashion magazines.

After having to cancel their first wedding due to Ethan being deployed with the military, the pair decided to get married legally and forget about a big wedding in front of family and friends. Until Brittany got a call about that long-forgotten wedding dress she had ordered. After some discussion and a quick three months of planning, incredible photographer Samantha MacAndrew of Samantha Erin Photography documented Brittany + Ethan’s stunning Barrie, Ontario, wedding.

When I look at Brittany + Ethan’s wedding photos, I see a couple deep in love who had their absolute dream wedding. The woodsy setting was perfect and the yellow ’41 Dodge Plymouth added a flash of color and a great deal of history to their big day. If you asked the couple, I have a feeling they’d say that both of their weddings were amazing for a multitude of reasons. The main one being that it was an opportunity to profess their love for each other.

Big or small, private or guest-packed, weddings are about that personal commitment a couple makes with one another. So, why not have a wedding every year? Let’s do it again and mean it just as much as we meant the year before.
