Sizzling with Love and Romance

Chris and Andrew from Boston Avenue Photo Co. submitted this next wedding and we couldn’t wait to share it. Perhaps it’s because these images, captured at the beautiful Riu Punta Cana Resort in the Dominican Republic, are absolutely sizzling with love and romance. So much so that our frost covered windows began to steam the moment we opened up the files. They have me longing for fruity drinks with umbrellas, turquoise-blue waters, and that special someone to lay next to at the ocean’s edge.

Summer is right around the corner – I can feel it! But before you go packing your bikinis and flip flops, take a look at this gorgeous couple saying I do, underneath a warm, setting sun.

Betty & Gian are just one of those couples. The kind of couple you spend five minutes getting to know and you instantly understand their connection. It’s like a thousand heart-shaped magnets, a pull so strong, you can’t resist it. And who would want to? Theirs is the kind of chemistry only the luckiest of couples find. The beautiful ocean ceremony with white sandy beach beneath our feet. The natural blues and greens of the picturesque island to serve as a beautiful backdrop. This gorgeous couple, so deeply in love with each other.
Suffice it to say, we knew this was a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Betty was absolutely stunning in her gorgeous white, satin gown, rouched at the sides and beaded along the neckline. Her crystal necklace and earrings picked up the radiant glimmer of the Dominican sunshine and her smile could be seen (and felt) from miles away. Gian could not get enough of her – in fact – it was hard to get him to look away. But that’s just them. She looks at him, he’s smiling at her. It’s a shared look and understanding – between the two of them.

Thank you, Betty & Gian, for including us in your special day. Here’s to many, many years ahead of shared looks, shared lives and shared love. Congratulations again.

Every once in a while… magic happens

They were in the right place at the right time. Sparks flew and connected, almost instantly. They were young – high school sweethearts – but when that rush hits you, the electricity that makes your arm hairs stand up and sends shivers down your spine – how can age matter? They knew instantly and yet over time, it became more and more apparent. Theirs was a connection that stirred the soul, that pushed others to feel more deeply and love more honestly. Magic happened.

And this year, magic happened again as we escape to the Dominican Republic to view the wedding of Candace + Mike – also known as, our High School Sweethearts.

Maybe the magic had something to do with the beautiful setting that the Dominican Republic provided. Perhaps the gorgeous white gazebo which served as an altar for Candace + Mike as they recited their vows played a small part. It may have been the overwhelming feeling of love and friendship that emanated from their guests hearts and hugs. All of it played a part, for sure. But what it came down to was this – we were witnessing a destiny, a moment that was written in the books long before it happened. They were the purpose in each others lives and we captured the entire day, a lifetime of moments being fulfilled, with our magical little cameras.

Mike + Candace are two amazing, AMAZING, individuals who live life like there’s no tomorrow, who dance like no one is watching, who smile often and laugh hardily because life is a gift and it’s worth celebrating. We had so much fun with the two of them. From a simple ceremony on the white sandy beaches to the palm tree covered cocktail hour, where they were serenaded by a local mariachi band. And to their guests surprise, a stunning trash the dress session amongst the gorgeous turquoise ocean waters. Candace + Mike were willing to try anything – and so we did everything!

The night concluded with an intimate candlelit dinner on the beach, with all of their loved ones toasting to this amazing couple. We really couldn’t have asked them to do anything else, but we’re pretty sure their future is going to be filled with surprises for those lucky enough to be a part of it.

Candace + Mike – thank you again for being so open and so inspirational to those around you. We were and still are, honored to be included in your beautiful day. Here’s to your magic – may it burn brighter and longer, ever more!

What I Love about SnapKnot

I was recently chatting with a friend of mine – who is getting married in about six months – who just found out her fiancé’s company is sending him overseas for the next 6 months. He’ll be back for a few weeks in time for the wedding and a little honeymoon, but she’ll pretty much be on her own in terms of planning the wedding from here on out. For many brides, this would be sure-fire panic time.

But this is what she said to me, “I have our venue and food selections made. We’ve met with and selected all of our vendors including the photographer, the florist, the band and our bakery. We know what everyone is wearing, where we need to be and at what time. I just don’t see why some people get so stressed out and go all bridezilla about their wedding day. It doesn’t seem to be that difficult.”

The truth, and I told her this, is that it only becomes stressful, if you let it. The most troubling aspect of planning a wedding is trying to narrow down your options in order to make some of the necessary decisions. Wouldn’t it be nice if everything was in one place? One simple place where you could just click and be done? At The Blueberry Wedding Blog, we strive to provide all of you lovely ladies with ideas to inspire beauty in your own wedding. But we also want to make the process an easy one, which is why I absolutely must share with you this fabulous new website for those of you looking to find and book a wedding photographer.

Laugh, Love, and Say “I Do”

Laughter. It’s the way to true love. It’s contagious. It’s the solver of all problems. The healer of all wounds. And it brings absolute beauty to any occasion. At Sasha + Paul’s wedding, laughter was plentiful. In fact, it’s almost difficult to find a photo in which Sasha isn’t laughing. Kudos to photographer Don Le of Bliss Imagery in Orange County, CA, for catching all of the delight in these photos.

Doesn’t Sasha just look like the happiest bride ever? And her smiling face surely makes an already gorgeous girl even more beautiful. Like true partners in crime, Paul is laughing right along with Sasha… And so is absolutely everyone else at the wedding, from the young kids to the grownups. Of course, you can’t actually hear the laughter from the photos, but you can most definitely feel it. This is a wedding you want to be at.

But Don Le tells us there were tears at the wedding, too. Sasha gave an incredibly heartfelt speech about how much her new husband Paul means to her. The tears were happy, emotional tears and from the look of the photos, they led to even more joy and laughter.

I love the photos of Sasha holding the paper doll tuxedo up to her and the one of Sasha + Paul under the gazebo. But really, I could go on because I’m in love with almost every photo in this series.

This stunning couple is surely going to have an incredibly happy marriage. And they’ll continue laughing with one another for years to come.

I quickly glanced to the left. And then right.

No one’s watching.

Ok. Back to the computer screen.

I scrolled through the images, quickly at first – afraid someone would walk in and catch me sneaking a peak into this seductive, alluring, evocative engagement session (honestly, there isn’t enough adjectives in the world to describe these images). It was such an odd experience – the anxiety that suddenly came over me. To constantly be looking over my shoulder, wondering when – not if – I would be caught.

I really started to take stock of what was before me. I basked in their greatness and envied the point-blank masterful quality in each and every one of these images. After a while, I had to remind myself that what I was looking at, was a real-life engagement session. This was not a fashion spread inside the covers of Vogue, Vanity Fair or Marie Claire (although it very well could be). This was Todd + Eiman, a couple so devastatingly in love, you can practically feel the intensity of their chemistry like you can feel the pages of a magazine underneath your finger tips. This was love, adoration, desire, temptation, attraction, hope and anticipation – captured. This was a work of pure genius by their photographer, Amelia Lyon.

And so without further adieu, I leave you with Todd + Eiman… Engaged.

Can I Just Make Her My Wife Already?

Do you ever feel like you know a couple just from looking at their wedding photos? As if they could practically be your best friends? That’s how I felt after viewing these pictures of Angela + Chris. So, I totally get how fabulous photographer David Coleman of Springfield, Missouri, felt such a connection with the pair. He photographed them like you would photograph friends you’ve known forever, catching their sweet expressions and subtle glances at each other. Yes, he photographed them like he was their best friend, who just happens to also be a really, really amazing photographer.

David Coleman gives us the opportunity to see the wedding from start to finish and my favorite photo is actually before the couple has even had their first look at each other. Chris is sitting on a bed in the hotel room and looking at his watch, like he’s thinking, “Alright, can I just make Angela my wife already?” It’s adorable and makes the rest of the photos in the series that much more touching. The couple gets to enjoy their “first look” behind closed doors, where Chris pulls out his guitar and plays Angela her favorite song. It’s a private moment and one that David Coleman photographs without making us feel at all like we’re intruding.

The bride, a classically trained ballerina, is simple but stunning in her ballerina-like dress made from lace and crepe. And the black and white wedding theme gives their wedding space at the Airport Hilton in St. Louis, a timeless and classic look. Timeless and classic just like Chris + Angela’s love.

The wedding reception looks far more fun than most, with a traditional Italian cookie dance and a game involving toilet paper. Yes, Angela + Chris played a game in which they had to remove toilet paper from a roll as fast as they could in the middle of the dance floor. Whoever finished first was said to be “in charge” of the marriage. Chris finished first, but everyone was laughing because it’s Angela who makes the calls in the relationship.

But even if Angela runs the show, it’s pretty clear that this marriage is made up of team work, friendship, and love. And we’re so happy we were given the chance to peek at their special day.

How Romantically Perfect!

And today we have something extraordinarily special for you. The bride in today’s featured wedding is a Wedding Coordinator herself, from Vancouver, Canada. I wonder how many times she’s been asked the question “How would you do it for your wedding?” Well today ladies, we find out!

Daniel Ha of D’Soleil Photography sent us this next wedding and what a gorgeous collection of wedding images it is! Daniel has a marvelous way of positioning and framing his subjects, turning every image into unique wall-worthy portraits. And I love the various expressions he captured throughout Stephanie + Jan’s wedding day.

Stephanie + Jan chose the exquisite Cecil Green Park House at UBC in Vancouver for their wedding ceremony & reception venue. It was a Friday evening wedding, and wanting to give their guests a more relaxed atmosphere to ease into their weekend, the couple chose an open seating layout where guests could mingle and talk freely.

So much of this wedding was made extra special with the unique personal touches added to it. The custom, monogrammed chocolate bars. The gorgeous 6 tiered wedding cake, with alternating designs on each layer, hand made and intricately designed by Stephanie’s sister Tarin. And let’s not forget the custom groom’s cake designed by his parents, with dozens of ornaments adorning the sides, each representing an aspect of Jan’s childhood.

My favorite part though, is the first look. Stephanie + Jan chose to have their first look, prior to the ceremony, along a pathway of trees just outside the Burnaby Public Library – where the couple first met years ago. What a romantically perfect way to start this new adventure together.

I love it. And I’m sure you will too.

The First Look Says it All

The first look. There’s often nothing more telling than how the bride and groom react to each other during that first look on their wedding day. For Heather + Dshamal, their first reveal says it all. Just like the handmade wood sign says: True love. Doesn’t every girl dream of having a husband who looks at her the way Dshamal is looking at Heather?

The very talented Renee McCardell of Greensboro, North Carolina, was lucky enough to shoot this wedding in Bassett, Virginia. Heather + Dshamal worked hard to make this wedding theirs, putting their own touches on everything from hay pews with patchwork quilts to the wooden signs made from old fence slats. Not to mention the fact that Heather came down the aisle in the 1980 powder blue Chevy she drove in high school. Yes, the wedding was most definitely theirs.

Since the wedding took place on Heather’s family farm, everything about it must have felt like home to the couple. But you could almost put Heather + Dshamal in the middle of nowhere and get the same feeling from these photos. You can tell just by the way they look at each other that they are home to each other. And it’s not just Heather + Dshamal either. It’s the way Heather’s grandmother is looking at her as she presents her with a locket containing her parents’ wedding photo. Even more emotional due to the fact that Heather’s mom passed away. And it’s the way Heather’s stepmother is looking at her with so much emotion when she first sees her in her gown. And it’s most certainly about the way Heather surprised Dshamal by reciting her vows in German, his first language.

Heather + Dshamal remind us that the little unique touches can add infinitely to a wedding. But what really counts are the looks shared between the couple. The glances the camera catches that show, without a doubt, how happy they are to be husband and wife. And all the wedding planning in the world can’t get you that.

Transported to the Heart of Spain

Some say flowers make a wedding. And in this case, I agree. Of course, you could also argue that a churros bar makes a wedding and in this case, I couldn’t argue with you on that either.

Photographer Christine Bentley of Orange County, California, teamed up with Oz Wroe and some of her favorite vendors to create an inspiration shoot that spotlights a wedding reception unlike any you’ve seen before. It’s likely the combination of the stunning bride and groom with the beautiful flowers that make you feel like you’ve traveled to a far off world. Which is exactly what you should feel like on your special day. The bride’s bouquet is filled voluptuously with pale pink flowers, while many of the other flowers in the scene are stunning bursts of reds and deep roses. The fresh limes scattered about offset the flowers in the most perfect, unexpected way.

Of course, the churros bar gives the wedding a unique aspect that is likely incredibly unique to the couple. And while the churros table is amazing, it’s the signage hanging around that gives the event a whimsical, light feeling. It’s impossible to look at these photos and not get a million ideas for your own future wedding.

I feel like I just spent some time deep in the romantic heart of Spain, without ever having left home. If only all weddings could transport me like this one did.

Every Girl’s Dream

When little girls dream of their wedding day, it’s always with visions of white poufy gowns, a bouquet of daisies and a crown of flowers atop their pillow case veil. When big girls dream of their wedding day, it’s actually this next wedding we get to share with you.

No seriously. THIS, is what a girl wants!

First and foremost, Lan, is simply stunning. What I wouldn’t give to look as amazing as she does in both of these show-stopping gowns. I absolutely adore the image their photographer Hung C. Tran captured of her gazing up at both dresses, each one stunning and spectacular – each one worthy of their own special moment in the sun.

Secondly, the photography. Wow! Hung C. Tran from San Diego, CA has an eye for lighting and detail like I have an eye for shoes and sweets. Each one of these images are impressive pieces of fine art, pure and simple. The bold, vibrant, lighting in some of these images are so striking, I’ve honestly gone back to look at them again and again. His precision at capturing Lan’s soft, delicate features and the graceful ease at which the couple is just ever so slightly posed – simple elegance.

Lastly, Derek and his groomsmen. Oh, those lovely groomsmen. This is a group I want to party with. They look like they had an absolute blast, and seriously, how could they not? This wedding is what every woman dreams of.

This is why little girls dream.

Some of My Favorite Things

Anyone who knows me really well would tell you I have a severe weakness for beautiful shoes. Shoes. Succulents. The sweet innocence of dimples and any man who knows how to rock a tux. Oh, and Seattle. So you can imagine how excited I am to share this next wedding with you all, photographed by the superb Stephanie Cristalli. So excited in fact, I don’t even know where to start!

Ok, Shoes – let’s start with the shoes and move up. Seems fitting doesn’t it? I’m very punny today. Can we please, please, please say a prayer of thanks for the bride’s gorgeous florally white satin heels and the lovely gems bedazzling her bridesmaid’s feet? They are both going on my top 10 list of gorgeous wedding wear. Also, check out the gorgeous bridal bouquet shot. These bouquets are exquisite and the succulents add such a calming, sweet touch.

And the handsome groom Jared, wow. You sure know how to make a girl swoon! Great job rocking that tuxedo. But a little piece of advice: you may want to save that tux for a rainy day, because I have a feeling you aren’t going to be getting your way often. Not when you get to wake up to those adorable dimples hugging Jamie’s beautiful smile each morning. So save the tux and pull it out when you really need a win.

Wow, shoes, succulents, dimples and a handsome man in a tux… my day is nearly complete. The only thing that could possibly make this next wedding even more romantic is to hear how the adorable Jamie + Jared met, from the couple themselves. Because, after all, there’s nothing I love more than a good old fashioned boy meets girl love story.

Our Story ~

We met while working together at the flavored syrup company, Da Vinci Gourmet – wow, almost 9 years ago! Still seems like yesterday. Jared’s parents owned the business at the time, so we had to keep it quiet – and we did pretty well for almost a full year! We have pretty much been inseparable ever since. While on vacation in Hawaii, Jared proposed. And it was the easiest question to answer.

Our Style ~

We were going for simple/elegant/fun. We asked our photographer Stephanie for photos that gave a Gossip Girl-ish sort of feel, minus the aspersion. Our wedding party had some quite unique characteristics. For the gentlemen, it was tuxes all the way. A bit of juxtaposition with the fancy outfit and the fellas hard core features. The ladies wore short and spunky cocktail dresses from BCBG, paired with sky high ‘Canonita’ Christian Louboutins… a gift from the mother of the groom. They were a head-turning bunch!

The Writing on the Wall

When opening up this wedding, the very first picture of Marelize was striking. And inspirational. And stunning. And I was obsessed.

A beautiful couple, picture-esque South African scenery, amazing photos by Andre and Selma of Expressions Photography and a dress (hand-made by the mother of the bride!) are only a few pieces of this amazing wedding.

The day included a few hiccups – though you’d never know looking at these pictures – with the bride attempting five times to get her hair exactly how she had looked in her trial. And even though her hair wasn’t perfect, Marelize reminded herself what it was all about… her groom Valerio.

Marelize described a day where her 90-year old grandmother never left the dance floor, single friends battled for the bouquet, and exchanging vows with the man she loves.

From the Bride: The highlight of my day was when my husband declared his love for me in front of all our guests in his speech. I had to fight the tears from messing up my eyes, but I felt so special and so lucky to have this amazing man as my partner for life!

Photographers Andre and Selma described the entire day as a photographer’s paradise and an event that left them speechless. So, we’ll let the pictures do the talking.

I Got Goose Bumps

It’s such a strange phenomenon. I have no idea how it happens and I never see it coming – although I can almost always pinpoint the reason for it. It has affected nearly every single one of us, but for a thousand different reasons. And the name… where exactly did that come from?

Goose Bumps.

Some people call them goose pimples or chill bumps but I don’t like that. It’s Goose Bumps for me. And it’s exactly what I felt when I started looking at this next set of images. Each new photograph I scrolled to generated a reaction, which – as an artist – is your ultimate goal. And so to Nate and Jaclyn from The Image Is Found of Oceanside, California, here is a list of my many reactions in the exact order.

If I wasn’t so obsessed with this next wedding, I would start and end this posting with just one word and then let you discover it all on your own. Because honestly, there is just one little word that accurately describes how I feel while looking through these images.

WOW.

SERIOUSLY – WOW.

But I am truly obsessed with these images, so I have to say just a little bit more.

There is not one image that I don’t love. Not one image that I think the photographer could have done more with. Not one moment missed, not one detail missing. This is a wedding collection that is absolutely, positively, utterly and adorably perfect. In Every. Single. Way.

The uber-talented photographer, Chenin Boutwell of San Juan Capistrano, California, sent us this brilliant masterpiece and I have to tell you, if she were standing in front of me I’d be curtseying to her majesty! Of course it doesn’t hurt that the couple, Melissa + Brett, are about as adorable as they come.

This eye-catching compilation, courtesy of Erin Samuell of A Simple Photograph, is filled with so many little bits of goodness. Erin teamed up with several of her local vendors to produce this inspirational winter romance wedding shoot and the result is pure, spot-on, perfection. In the ebb and flow of life, there will come a time when suddenly, you can’t imagine your life without the person standing next to you. You can’t remember a time when they weren’t there, beside you and a part of every memory you are making. A glance in their direction, and instantly, your world is different. Your world is clear. And in that moment, there are only two words you need to remember.

“I do.”

And when that moment came for Greg & Brittany, our adorable Southern California Surfers, there was nothing else that mattered. Their surfboards and wetsuits put away for the evening. Their friends and family all gathered inside the lovely historic home and garden on Santa Monica’s Main Street, The Victorian. Their vows were written and they were ready. To say I do.

I have to say, I’ve become quite attached to this couple. After falling in love with their engagement shoot, sent to us by the amazing team of Josh and Ariel Green from Anika London Photography, and now sifting through the gorgeous images from their wedding, they’re like old friends. I want to take them out for a drink. I want to go to softball games with them. I want to throw neighborhood block parties together and reminisce about old times with them.

Because look at them – who wouldn’t want to be around to hear their story?

In the ebb and flow of life, there will be calm seas with quiet sunsets. There will be stormy, tsunami-sized waves,
that together – you will conquer.

And in between, there will be the two of you. Collectively riding life’s rollercoaster of waves.

A Parisian Fairytale in Los Angeles

Fairytales really do come true. At least they do for gorgeous couple Tram + Gregory. The first thing I thought when I saw their wedding photos was that the event looked like a fairytale come to life! Then I learned that the pair met in Paris, where Greg was born and raised. A full-blown Paris romance led to Greg moving to Los Angeles, California, to be with his leading lady. And then to an absolutely stunning wedding, shot by the amazingly talented Caroline Tran at the historic church, Vibiana. Adding to the fairytale is the fact that Vibiana was close to being demolished, but was saved literally moments before being bulldozed. Tram + Greg’s romance was absolutely made for Vibiana.

Yoleine Dumarsais of Twelve Events must have had fairytales on the mind when she was coordinating the pair’s wedding. The lightly colored flowers match perfectly to the muted tones of the bridesmaids’ Laundry by Shelli Segal dresses. And Tram’s Jenny Lee wedding gown only adds to the romantic awe-inspiring mood. As if the dress wasn’t perfect enough, Tram added her own lace cap sleeves, giving it a personal and absolutely dreamy touch. I’m just waiting for Prince Charming to come along. Oh wait, that’s Greg, the handsome Parisian groom!

The photo of Tram + Greg in the archway appears to be ripped from the pages of a fairytale and Caroline Tran deserves tremendous credit for all the enchanting photos, capturing every single detail of the evening from the garden ceremony to the refined reception. I’m absolutely in love with the high-ceilings in Vibiana and the fact that the couple kept their decor simple, but elegant, for the reception. When you picture the wedding of Cinderella and her Prince Charming, isn’t this exactly what comes to mind? I have a strong feeling Tram + Greg will live very happily ever after…

Love in a Blueberry Field

Some things are just meant to be. Like Zena + Brandon’s love for each other. It’s easy to see their unique style and laid-back Southern charm is mutual, making them appear absolutely perfect for one another. Oh, and their engagement shoot was clearly meant for The Blueberry Wedding Blog. Photographer Michelle Castle of Destin, Florida, spent four hours shooting the couple in fields, farms, vineyards, and the natural woodlands surrounding their North Florida home. Well, if they were looking for the perfect shot, they certainly got it. Or twenty! And some of those shots just happen to be in a dormant blueberry field with a shabby wooden blueberry sign. How perfect is that? I told you, they were meant to be.

Zena has fashion sense that most of us would die for. With the perfect smile to boot. And Michelle says Brandon was willing to do whatever would make Zena happy. Even if that meant a 4-hour engagement photo shoot. Of course, he was rewarded with several beers after the shoot. And plenty of amazing photos of he and his beautiful bride-to-be.

I’m totally smitten with the photos of Zena + Brandon in matching plaid shirts. And obsessed with the fact that the couple can go from all-dressed up to super casual and continue looking just as fabulous. But if I were Zena, I’d never want to take off my feathered hat and patterned tights.

The couple is getting married in a plantation style wedding in April and I’m hoping we get to see those photos, too. Mostly so I can check out Zena’s wedding dress and Brandon’s suit. Can you blame me?

It’s absolutely clear to us that Zena + Brandon are two peas in a pod…. or two blueberries in a blueberry bush, as the case may be.

Love in the Details

There are some things in life that will transcend language barriers and surpass cultural differences. Cross geographical borders and generation age gaps. Class or caste; young or old.

Love is a world language – recognizable from afar and sought out by us all.

For Julian Kanz, world-class wedding photographer extraordinaire, he sees love in the details. In the delicate steps Maria takes as she prepares for her wedding day and in the coy manner in which she first glances towards her husband to be. Julian Kanz captures love in Michael’s proud smile as he grabs the hand of his wife, for the very, first time. He sees love as two families are united and in the celebration that follows.

I love these images and how much detail and story Julian Kanz captured for these two newlyweds. I love how much fun this couple is having together, from the ceremony to the reception and even stopping to ride the bumper cars. I love how this very successful and talented photographer from Italy captured such beautiful images of Maria & Michael’s Buckingham, England wedding – and I especially love that we can now share it all with you, wherever you may be.

True: I love a formal wedding. The tuxedo clad men and the long ball gowns on the ladies. Everything about it somehow transforms an otherwise average Saturday evening into a magical, regal affair.

True: I love the drastic juxtaposition of a picture-perfect bride and dapper looking groom against the exposed brick and mortar interior and graffiti-clad walls of an urban downtown structure. There is just such beauty and artistic expression in the contrast of it all.

False: I love it when a flower girl and ring bearer are well behaved.

True: I love it when the flower girl and ring bearer show no fear.

There’s a wedding going on? This little guy answers to no one.

You trust they will be there, to catch you when you fall and help you get right back up on that horse, or surfboard as it may be. And sometimes, when you’re really, REALLY lucky, you find someone who not only love and supports you, but will also help you accomplish everything you’ve always hoped for.

In life, in love and within the waves…

For Greg + Brittany, two sun-kissed Southern California natives who spend their quality time together riding the surf along the beaches of Santa Monica, your typical engagement shoot was not going to do. So, their brave photography team of Josh and Ariel from Anika London Photography, took the plunge and captured some amazing images for this Kamikaze couple.

What I’m really loving – besides the gorgeous sunset shots – is how playful these two are with each other. You really catch a glimpse into the unique chemistry that binds them together. Josh and Ariel did a wonderful job of capturing Greg + Brittany in their element, and in doing so, the images just FEEL right.

I can’t even imagine what’s in store for this fun-loving couple on their wedding day, but fortunately, we won’t have to wait long! Josh and Ariel have promised to send us the entire collection of images so we’ll have them up here just as soon as possible!

We started The Blueberry Wedding Blog as an inspirational resource and guide for chic, contemporary brides looking for ideas and designs they can use to implement into their own wedding day. And what better way to do that than by posting actual wedding images sent to us from professional wedding photographers from around the world.

Now, as wedding photographers, we too are constantly in search of inspiration, and one of the greatest tools at our disposal for finding inspiration is viewing the work of our peers. And I can think of no greater way to explain this then to show you the work of this next wedding, photographed by the incomparable South African wedding photographer, Greg Lumley.

When this collection of wedding images began opening up, I literally started rubbing my eyes. I wanted them wide open and fresh; able to take in every bit of beauty and artistry they revealed. Each one of these images captured a moment for this couple – a moment they will not only remember, but will treasure for generations to come.

There is so much about this wedding that I adore, but let me just quickly touch on a few of my favorite pieces. The rest you can admire for yourself in the gallery. I’m love, love, loving the dramatic cigar shots of the bride and groom, something the photographer has become quite known for. And the venue? Hello! It’s the picturesque Klein Genot Vineyard in Franschhoek, South Africa. The owners of Klein Genot laid a patch of grass in the center of the vineyard where Jenny + Ronald’s wedding ceremony was held. How amazing is that? Can you imagine the view from one of those seats?

But my absolute favorite part of this wedding collection is the spectacular shots of the couple, Ronald + Jenny, laying inside the old vintage car, parked alongside a gorgeous display of wildflowers. The colors in these images are so vibrant and full of life. I’m at once, equally torn between wanting to be this beautiful couple who is so rocking these shots or being the photographer, the superbly talented Greg Lumley, for capturing this perfect moment for them.

For all you love struck couples

This adorably sweet engagement shoot was captured by the one and only, Anna Jones out of Ottawa, Ontario. It happened to be quite overcast and the snow had completely blanketed the ground, the trees and everything else in site that day. So this creative couple, Matt + Alexandra, showed up at the Stonebridge Golf Course, prepared with a few props to brighten up the shoot. This wintry outdoor session was suddenly filled with so much heart and warmth, you almost forget they’re sitting in snow!

As each new image opened on my computer screen, my heart began beating faster. Anna has a wonderful way of making this couple and those little heart shaped morsels of goodness, pierce through the background, much like Cupid’s arrow will do! The amazing textures within these images pop out at you – from the dark browns of the tree trunks to the sparkly red hearts on a stick. I literally feel like I could reach in and grab a hold of one of those hearts!

The difference between a good wedding photographer and a truly great wedding photographer is the ability to tell a complete story in a few pictures. The story of the wedding, of course, but more importantly, the story of the bride and groom.

Paul Morse is one of those photographers, and we’re so excited to share the story of Cory + Josh, and their Maryland wedding, one chilly day. Some of the best moments throughout the day involved the band, Urban Guerilla Orchestra. During the reception, the groom grabbed the microphone and shared the stage with the band, making for a memorable evening!

This is How You Do It

Nothing makes me happier than an engagement session done right. “Well, what’s right?” you may ask. First of all, it’s personal. You pick a location, a special spot, a particular time of year or date that’s meaningful to you! Secondly, you find a photographer who understands the two of you and can capture your unique chemistry in a way that truly represents your love and commitment.

And lastly, you have fun with it!

Now, having said all that, you can imagine how excited I am to share this next set of images. This adorably sweet couple did absolutely everything right. They chose an outdoor engagement session at High Park in Bloor West Village, on one of the coldest days of the year. But these two are true-blue Canadians, so for them, it was just a walk in the park. They selected Boyan & Anastassia from B&N Photography to capture this special day for them and I don’t think they could have found a better pairing if they spent another year searching.

But the best part about this engagement session is that you are truly able to catch a glimpse into what made them fall in love with each other. The glimmer in Siobhan’s eyes as she looks at Steve says it all.

You can’t really go wrong with a beach side wedding in beautiful Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and from the looks of this next set of images, the photographer, Scott Andrew out of Northern California, can do no wrong either!

Nikki + Bobby’s gorgeous beach side ceremony provided a plethora of picturesque locales for their photographer to shoot from, as you can see. But then they go and throw in a reception at the beautiful Villa Bellissima Resort?

Come on now, that’s just not fair! You’re killing me!

This stunning seaside resort boasts some absolutely spectacular views from its hillside location in Pedregal, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Oh, and did I mention the infinity pool at the dance floors edge and a private firework extravaganza at the end of the night? Scott Andrew, photographer extraordinaire, along with his fearless, second-shooter Evan Baines, captured some truly magnificent moments for this newly wedded couple, and we just have to say – Job Well Done.

As you scroll through the images of Craig + Claire’s wedding day, you almost start to feel a part of the day as it unfolds before you. You see guests embracing and friends laughing. You see private, intimate moments between a husband and his new wife. You can almost hear the conversations and feel the excitement with each beautiful new image.

I can imagine, for Craig + Claire, this beautiful collection lets them relive their wedding day any time they choose. What a truly amazing gift.

A Wish is Made

When lucky coins are tossed into a rushing water fountain.

When candles are blown out, eyes squeezed shut and fingers crossed.

When a glance to the bedside table reveals a clock set on 11:11.

A wish is made…

And for Jen + Matt, that wish came true when – amongst the glittering, dangling lights and rustic Holly Farm setting – they promised to love and cherish one another, all the days of their lives.

These images, captured by the exceptionally talented Meg Perotti, reveal a magical – almost whimsical – sort of fairy tale land. The venue for this wonderful celebration is the stunning Holly Farm hideaway, tucked away against the Santa Lucia Mountains in Carmel, California. I’m blown away by this venue, with all of its glorious little nooks and crannies and all the special little details that make this place so distinctive.

Meg did a wonderful job capturing the uniqueness of the setting and all the precious moments Jen + Matt created together on this beautiful occasion. There is so much life contained in these images, from the laughing, happy smiles of the couple’s friends and family to the dancing, the dart throwing and the cigar-smoking shots. I just wish I had a time machine so I could beam myself over to Holly Farm and be a part of this beautiful day.

It’s almost 11:11. I’m closing my eyes now… I’m making a wish…

Two. Two. Two Engage ‘mints’ in One!

Apparently wishes really DO come true! Yesterday we posted a wonderful wintery engagement session with the most adorably cute couple. So cute in fact, it left us all wanting more. More couples cuddled close to each other. More intimate walks through the snow-filled fields. More winter sweaters and mittens and embraces to keep warm.

Fortunately, Valentine’s Day has put us in a giving mood so here’s a double-dose of Snow White Winter Wonderland Engagements – both courtesy of Erin Samuel with A Simple Photograph.

These two engagement sessions are similar at first glance – both set outdoors and both couples incorporating nature’s beauty and the surrounding environments into their photographic love story. But upon further inspection, you’ll start to pick up the differences as each couple’s unique personalities start to reveal themselves. It’s obvious both of these couples have an incredible chemistry, but what’s even more amazing is how their photographer was able to capture their connection and bond so distinctively.

Never, Ever Let Go

When the man you love is down on one knee proposing marriage – you giddily exclaim ‘Yes!’

When the man you love is down on one knee proposing marriage.
On a trip to Portugal to meet your extended family.
After cleverly concealing the ring through customs.
So he could surprise you with the proposal one night after dinner.
In front of your entire family.
There wasn’t a dry eye in the room.
And after all that.
He learned how to propose in Portuguese.
You grab a hold of him and never, ever, let go.

This wedding is all heart and then some. It took place at the Barcelo Maya Tropical Hotel in the Mayan Riviera. And while Angelina + Justin have a lifetime of romantic moments ahead of them, I’m just happy I can share their amazing story and these beautiful images, courtesy of Jen Alston from Imajen Photography.

Pulling At My Heartstrings

They say distance makes the heart grow fonder. While I have to admit, I’ve never been a fan of distance when it comes to relationships nor am I fond of the word fond to describe the way two people feel about each other, somehow, this next couple makes the whole thing sound utterly romantic.

Bronwyn + Ollie met in Grahamstown, South Africa when they were both working on their first year as an assistant teacher, or as they refer to it, their “stooge” year. When Ollie returned to the UK that next year to finish University, Bronwyn stayed in South Africa to work. For the next 3 years, their relationship grew stronger and their love for each other blossomed. For 3 years, they lived in different countries – different continents in fact! For 3 years, they wrote and they telephoned and they made trips to visit each other as often as they could. And after 3 years, they had had enough! So Bronwyn packed up her belongings and moved to the UK to be with Ollie.

And this past December, this lovely long distance love affair finally became a happily ever after. Ollie + Bronwyn traveled back to where it all began and were married at the exclusive Steenberg Golf Club, near South Africa’s Cape Town city center. After looking through these stunning images sent to us by their talented photographer, Eric Uys, the thing that’s really pulling at my heartstrings is the look of complete contentment and sheer happiness that was captured in virtually every image. Bronwyn is glowing and Ollie looks like he won the lottery of love.

From the bride herself: the day was INCREDIBLE! The weather was stunning, everything went according to plan and it was really a day of celebration and love! I had finally married my soul mate and it was just incredible!!

The Warmth of Winter

Convinced you’re totally sick of winter? One look at Kristen + Aaron’s engagement photos will have you quickly deciding winter is hands-down your favorite season. I thought I was ready for winter’s end, but as I look at these photos, I find myself singing aloud “let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.”

While photographs in winter can often bring a chill to your bones, photographer Genevieve Georget of Fifteen:Fifty-One Photography from Ottawa, Ontario, created a setting that looks so incredibly cozy and welcoming. And really proves that all you need is love to keep you warm. Doesn’t it look like Kristen + Aaron could stay cuddled up on the couch forever, no matter what the weather is doing around them? I’m sure it helped that Kristen had superbly warm-looking (but still totally chic) boots on and a cozy white sweater that matches the scenery. And Aaron was bundled up in his wool coat. Unfortunately, Genevieve wasn’t as lucky and she ended up with a frost-bitten ear during the shoot! All in the name of love, right?

The Christmas balls hanging over the couch give the look of a mini winter wonderland made for just this couple. Don’t forget to check out the bride’s nails; her pink french manicure is to die for!

Kristen + Aaron are getting married in August at a waterfront-winery, which means their engagement photos and wedding photos will be two very different sets of pictures. See? Their love lasts all year-round through any weather.

A small town’s reunion turned love story

This next engagement session is making us hope this snowy winter actually sticks around a little longer – just so we can see a few more of these dreamy winter sessions. But there is something a little extra special and romantic about this shoot, sent to us by Caitlin den Boer of Adelita Rose Photography.

Maybe it’s the unique setting of the shoot, with the interior of the old brick structure exposed to nature and all of its elements. Or the knowing glances and intimate embraces the photographer caught of this gorgeous couple, Courtney + Emily. The coy little grin that spreads across Emily’s face as Courtney whispers sweet nothings in her ear, adds a little something too. Perhaps it’s the way the two barely seem to notice the snow falling down in front of them, as they glide across the ice and cozy up beneath a seemingly warm, white blanket of love.

Then again, it may be their story we fell in love with. A small town. An old pub closing. A reunion of sorts for the town. Emily was there and so was Courtney. And somehow – in this seemingly small town – two unfamiliar faces met for the very first time. And the rest – as they say – is history.

There is something so sweet and romantic about a snowball fight with your best friend, especially when it takes place in the rare, but beautiful Arkansas snow. This engagement session took place at Pigeon Creek on Norfork Lake and as you can see it was a ton of fun. Nikki + Tyler were so comfortable in front of the camera and simply inseparable. Who would have imagined getting two beautiful snow days in one winter in this area?

Two years ago John Blair of b2 Photography watched his two youngest children attempt to make a snow man out of less than 1/8th inch of sleet on top of the picnic table. Today, he came home from this session to find a 7ft tall snow man being built in his front yard. Life is good. Thanks to John for providing this fun and inspiring session.

Cause She’s Got… Personality

Walk, with personality.
The snow had fallen the night before, and it was still coming down when it was time to say I do. But what’s a little snow when it’s your wedding day? Needless to say, nothing was going to stop Mark + Laura from celebrating their love. Today, or any other day. So she strapped on her winter boots and walked, with personality, through the wintery effervescence and found Mark waiting.

Talk, with personality.
As Mark + Laura put their feelings to words and committed their vows to one another, tears of joy from their family and friends were quickly interrupted by bursts of laughter. They let their hearts do most of the talking. Because Mark + Laura? They talk, with personality.

Smile, with personality.
As we made our way to the reception we stopped to take a few pictures with the bridal party. Yes, it was still snowing and yes, it was very cold. But it was a happy time and there was nothing but celebration in the air. So, they did what came naturally on a cold, wintery day. They wore their sunglasses. And smiled, with personality.

Charm, with personality.
Laura + Mark chose the Joey and Toby Tanenbaum Pavilion, with floor to ceiling windows on two of its walls, and it could not have been more ideal. The room was decked out in chocolate brown linens and silver backed chairs – perfect for this winter celebration. Each table was adorned with a unique candy-themed centerpiece including chocolate-covered espresso beans, lollipops and our favorite, the apothecary jar filled with assorted jelly bellys. Yum. The room was filled with bits and pieces of Mark + Laura. It charmed us, with each precious touch.

Love, with personality.
The evening was a beautiful ode to their connection, their commitment and their love for each other and we were honored to be a part of it. Laura + Mark – thank you for sharing your special day with us and thank you for reminding us all to love, with personality.

Here’s a lovable engagement session sent to us by the fabulous Charity from Charity Remington Photography which took place at the historic Hereford Ranch in southeast Wyoming. With lots of snow and a gorgeous field, this e-session really captures the LOVE between Lesa + Cragen without being too over-styled or fussy. It’s simple, it’s sweet and it’s the perfect ending to a wonderful day with big white flakes of snow hitting the ground, and a soft warm sunset in the background.

I’ve been devouring this next set of images – sent to us from the amazingly talented Sean Flannigan out of Seattle, Washington – for hours now. I can’t stop looking at them. I’ve walked away from the computer screen several times, trying to distance myself from these photographs. But I end up running back immediately, almost apologizing for being away. There are so many brilliantly crafted, touching, emotionally charged images, each one more powerful and evocative than the last.

These images don’t just show a beautiful couple getting married. This amazing collection of moments, tells a story. A story about love and about life. About the people we surround ourselves with. About the person we vowed to spend our life loving. This story, about Vero + Danny’s wedding in Luxembourg, is living and breathing on this screen. You can literally see and hear and feel the story unravel as you scroll through the images, from one to the next.

Sometimes a wedding photographer gets it so right, the images transcend into something else entirely. It’s not just photography anymore.

A Loss for Words

Sometimes, we’re at a loss for words. But this wedding, sent to us by Brian and Wanda from Studio 67 Cinema + Photo really left us speechless.

Wendy + Michael traveled to one of their favorite places in the world along with their closest friends and family to be married at a sunset setting in the Mayan Riviera. Wendy and her mom had booked their hair appointments at the Bahia Principe Spa and spent the morning together to start this dreamy destination wedding day. After their sunset ceremony they had a quaint dinner inside one of the private dining rooms.

Wendy + Michael also wanted to shoot some Trash the Dress photos and take advantage of the gorgeous Mexican back drop, so Brian and Wanda spent a few hours with them at a private beach and in downtown Tulum. They captured gorgeous details and a perfect mix of stills and a short film to represent the day.

The In Between

It’s not up and it’s not down.

It’s not yes or no – it’s not wrong or right.

It’s not here, nor is it there, it’s just somewhere… in between.

Oh how I love the in between.

It’s that moment of wonder – it’s excitement and anxiety. There’s an aura of possibilities, of promises and potential. It’s the instant just after a question, where the answer seems to linger, loosely, just beyond your grasp.

“Will you marry me Gillian?”

…

the in between…

And then the answer comes…

“Yes Jon – I will!”

I love the in between. I love the in between part of a day when it’s no longer morning and yet still not quite evening. The fading daylight and incoming moonlight has such a romantic, soft feel to it and this next photographer, Shireen Louw from Cape Town South Africa, has captured it magnificently.

The ceremony and reception took place at Diemersfontein, a Wine Farm in between Paarl and Wellington on a beautiful 89 degree day. Gillian could not have looked more beautiful and Jon could not have looked more in love. How perfectly perfect, I say.

A Western Romance

True love is shown in a variety of ways. It can be elegant and classy. It can be prim and proper. It can be creative and imaginative. And sometimes it can be just downright fun and playful, which is exactly what these lovebirds were throughout their entire wedding day.

Kylie + Michael were destined to have one of the most laid-back, carefree and fun weddings since they met. Their personalities lined up perfectly and allowed for a gorgeous Fall wedding with nothing but smiles and fun all around. Between their jeans and their boots, Kylie + Michael made their style shine on their special day.

The amazing Columbia, MO based photographer Amy Melito captured all the Fall romance in the air with this wedding. She showed just how laid-back and fun-loving the couple were, especially when it came to cutting the cake and their dance moves. Kylie + Michael ensured that there was far from a dull moment at their wedding, breaking into a sudden dance every time someone said “drop it like it’s hot.”

They say laughter is the best medicine, which must mean that Kylie + Michael are already well on their way to living long, healthy and happy lives together.

Cowboy Boots & Lace

New love is thrilling, dizzying even, and will sweep you off your feet in a heartbeat. It’s all consuming and often blinding. We’re told by wise elders that this newness fades and that is when a couple’s commitment is tested. This is the time when a pair discovers their foundation. For some very lucky couples, the essence of their particular brand of love is fun! As the years fly by they will remain head over heels in love with each other because every day is a new adventure together.

On a sweltering October afternoon, Leah + Rhett set out to have a whirlwind of fun with their family and friends. They started off the day with a pre-wedding photo shoot with the undeniably talented Cole and Jakob, of Vancouver’s Nordica Photography. Rhett and his groomsmen enjoyed a fierce adrenalin rush with the aid of motorcycles as Cole and Jakob captured every daring move! Not to be outdone, Leah showed the boys a trick or two on her own bike.

The rest of the wedding was a rustic ranch gala that celebrated the down to earth free spirits of the bride and groom. The property located in Cache Creek, British Columbia was adorned with seasonal accents befitting of a true autumn bonanza.

Nordica Photography paid tribute to the unique style of the wedding by offering their own unique style to the photos. The images were romantic with a touch of haze, almost as if true ranch dust were flitting across the scene. With incredible sunset silhouettes of children playing on the horizon, the photographers must have had a premonition of Leah + Rhett’s future family!

Love Travels Near and Far

When Andi + Lucas met in a foreign land many years ago, they had no idea that their chance evening of champagne and flirting would lead to not one, but two weddings! For the sake of both of their families, they married once in Argentina and once in Charlotte, North Carolina. Thanks to Charlotte, North Carolina’s astounding Emily Chidester, the young jet setting couple was able to share the celebration of their love with Andi’s grandparents who could not attend the Argentina ceremony. They followed each other around the world and made sure to stop at a hometown courthouse for a beautiful simple reminder that their love has no borders.

The day was blanketed in a stifling hot heat, yet Andi + Lucas couldn’t keep their hands off of one another. It was as if they were addicted to each other …in constant need of a touch here and a gaze there.

Emily Chidester brought such elegance to the simplicity of the day. The whites in the details were heavenly, and the flowers so vibrant! She created a timeless moment caught in print, something to be cherished throughout all of Andi + Lucas’ worldly adventures.

Love is Wild

Life will always have its hardships. Its ups and downs; its no good days; its “I’d rather stay in bed” moments. But if you find the right person to spend forever with, those rough times won’t feel so bad. If you find a person who can simply cover your hand with theirs and your troubles immediately melt away, you know your search is over. Debra + Chris are the kind of couple who can get through absolutely anything together. The kind of couple who know exactly how to talk to each other; just the right look to give; and precisely the joke to tell. Love is wild.

In fact, we’re just a little bit jealous that Phoenix photographer Mike Olbinsksi had the opportunity to shoot their wedding. Then again, we’re also pretty jealous that Debra + Chris had such an amazingly talented photographer document their wedding day memories forever. The couple and their photographer made the perfect team as they headed to the zoo to conduct a wedding photo shoot. Any twosome who wants wedding photos at the zoo is a couple we want to be friends with. But we’ll settle for the chance to browse their gorgeous wedding album and witness the love they feel for each other through images.

Of course, they have all the classic, loving photos; the ones where they’re gazing into each others eyes and the ones where they’re proclaiming their vows. But Debra + Chris’ wedding album will be filled with so much more than that. There are the photos of the groomsmen in Converse, holding bouquets, while Chris holds a lady’s parasol. There are photos with Chris wearing a fake mustache and Debra donning faux pink lips. And the giraffe! How many brides and grooms have photographs of themselves feeding a giraffe in their wedding album? It’s obvious this pair isn’t simply posing for the camera; they’re having fun, being themselves, and living life the best way they know how. With each other.

The images show the many different facets of Debra + Chris’s relationship and leave us with the understanding that this couple can make it through anything together. Life may get a little crazy and times may get a little tough, but love is wild. And with a fake moustache and bright pink lips, Debra + Chris can just look at each other and laugh.

Positively Perfect in Every Way!

Sometimes a wedding or engagement session is sent over to us and my immediate thought is… “Ok, how do I ‘Mary Poppins’ myself into these pictures?”

Well this is one of those times. This next engagement session, sent to us by the lovely Seattle-based photographer, Laurel McConnell, is just so light and fun. The green, green grass lying beneath them and the quiet still of the lake at their toes, it’s calling my name. It makes me long for that perfect spring day, where a slight breeze whispers through your hair, sweet blue birds chirp their love songs from above, your main squeeze tightly holds your hand, where anything and everything is entirely possible. This beautiful couple, Melissa + Josh, are Seattle natives who live on Greenlake and were also engaged on Greenlake. So one beautiful Seattle afternoon, Melissa + Josh along with their photographer, set off to this delightful locale and let magic happen.

Just as I thought and as Ms. Poppins would say, This engagement session is positively perfect in every way!

A Love That Lasts

Helen Keller once said that “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.” This wedding showed the true heart and dedication behind the couple, exhibiting glimpses of the personalities and loves that they share. But the love between this couple was even easier to see, and more importantly feel, throughout the entire day.

Rachel + John were married at the Riverside Inn; the perfect country property for this wedding. Rachel ensured that every piece that went into her wedding, between the attire and the décor, had the right amount of handmade vintage flare to match the location. The incredibly talented Springfield, MO based photographer David Coleman made sure to showcase every detail along with capturing the tremendous amount of love between the couple and their friends and family.

Rachel + John assured that there was far from a dull moment between the wedding and the reception. They danced and laughed, mingling with friends and loved ones. They weren’t afraid to get a little bit messy when it came to the cake cutting either. The couple had the biggest smiles as they held hands, letting the world know just how endless their love was for one another.

Their day ended with a gentle snowfall, giving them the perfect ending to their already perfect day as they celebrated indoors and watched it fall on the field. Rachel + John have already embraced the kind of love that lasts – the kind that is not only shown, but always felt. This is true love.

Unexpected Timelines

Life is full of surprises, big and small. Sometimes they come in the form of a beautifully wrapped gift tied up in a bow, and other times they come in the form of an unexpected timeline. Every once in awhile, a couple is blessed with the rare treat of having their child witness the promise of commitment to one another.

Courtney + Clifton were lucky to have their darling little Kinley in attendance on this very special day. Little did Kinley realize as she watched Mommy and Daddy hold hands and exchange rings, but she is the strength and glue that binds their family. Her sweet coos, her father’s misty tears and her mother’s beaming smile are the most precious moments caught on film by the ever so talented Amanda and Chris Watson from Oklahoma.

When autumn’s first chill sets in, true love ignites and warms the hearts of lovers. Red leaves, orange skies and fiery sunsets are the prelude to a passionate marriage. Set at the gorgeous Grove Park Inn Resort in Asheville, North Carolina, Courtney + Clifton wed amongst the October foliage in front of their loving and supportive family.

To cater to the theme of the unexpected, the North Carolina weather toyed with the wedding as cold fronts came and went. Again, the couple were blessed as the weather settled on a perfectly sunny setting. The sun illuminated the bride in its golden glow and allowed everyone to bask in the heartfelt warmth of the ceremony.

The setting was rustic, the bride and groom were a vision of class, and Amanda Watson Photography wrote these images with autumn light in a way that takes our breath away!
