Never, Ever Let Go

When the man you love is down on one knee proposing marriage – you giddily exclaim ‘Yes!’

When the man you love is down on one knee proposing marriage.
On a trip to Portugal to meet your extended family.
After cleverly concealing the ring through customs.
So he could surprise you with the proposal one night after dinner.
In front of your entire family.
There wasn’t a dry eye in the room.
And after all that.
He learned how to propose in Portuguese.
You grab a hold of him and never, ever, let go.

This wedding is all heart and then some. It took place at the Barcelo Maya Tropical Hotel in the Mayan Riviera. And while Angelina + Justin have a lifetime of romantic moments ahead of them, I’m just happy I can share their amazing story and these beautiful images, courtesy of Jen Alston from Imajen Photography.

Divine photos! and such a sweet story about the bride & groom, they look so happy together.

Margaret

I am so very blessed to have been there during the proposal and proudly state that, yes indeed, my eyes were not dry!!! Right through to the most beautiful, romantic union between this extraordinary couple. There are few that I know that share such a wonderful bond as you both do!!! Thank you for sharing such a wonderful wedding with us at the Tropical Maya… words do not exist to express the emotions that went through my heart and soul that Special Day..

Such romantic photos. Beautiful.

Josie Cook

Excellent photos! what a sweet couple :)

Sandra Simms

Even though I didn’t attend the wedding, I got to experience through the wonderful shots that were taken and then later compiled into a breathtaking presentation. Whenever I’m feelin’ blue I go and replay that slide presentation….works like a charm. How cool is that?

Sandra

Debora

Gorgeous photos! What a romantic proposal story – love it.

Angie LaRose

This was the most romantic wedding I have attended. The love that these two share is what fairytales are made from. They are so full of life and love, and no matter what life will bring them in the future I have no doubt in my mind that they will always rise above it and be stronger for it. They are my inspiration. I love you both and thank you for giving us all something to “hope” for and something to “believe” in! Xxoo

Cheryl Scott

WOW! What gorgeous images – love the story about the proposal …how romantic!! Looks like there are 2 very proud Mothers commenting about this wedding!

stella lima

I am the Bride’s (Angelina) mother. I am a Hair Designer & have been in the profession for the last 33 years. I have dealt with many brides. I saw a ‘different’ bride on Nov 18th. This woman didn’t care about anything else but the man she’s in love with. It was all about the vows for her & everything else was secondary! It was beautiful to watch a bride living joy ….even more joy to be the mother of the bride!

Jen Alston

Thank you BW! It is fun looking through this blog full of tremendous ideas! I’m happy to be part of it. :-)

Sandy Dutton

Absolutely stunning! And how very proud I am, you see…I am mother of the groom and he truly is a romantic and wonderful boy and because of that, he only deserves the best…and that is what he got in Angelina. Love you both my darlings!! xoxo

Beautiful :)

Simply Beautiful. I love the story how he proposed!

Let Me Count the Ways…

Roses are red, Violets are blue.
Let me count the ways we love this next I Do.

They had sand beneath their toes and the ocean at their backs.
We love how this couple appears so relaxed.

The bride and her mother were Do-It-Yourself Gurus.
We love all the hand-made, papery florals.

The ring-bearer was poised and ready for duty.
We love how their dog Cooper was part of the ceremony.

These images came courtesy of Raquel Sergio.

We love how you captured this Floridian Duo.

Alright – that’s enough rhyming for today. In all seriousness, this wedding stuck out to us because of its simplicity and beauty.  Nancy + Victor chose a beautiful setting and stuck to a décor pallet that not only complimented their surroundings, but also suited their personalities.
And the result feels like… home.

I like these photos. Thanks!

Betti

Pulling At My Heartstrings

They say distance makes the heart grow fonder. While I have to admit, I’ve never been a fan of distance when it comes to relationships nor am I fond of the word fond to describe the way two people feel about each other, somehow, this next couple makes the whole thing sound utterly romantic.

Bronwyn + Ollie met in Grahamstown, South Africa when they were both working on their first year as an assistant teacher, or as they refer to it, their “stooge” year. When Ollie returned to the UK that next year to finish University, Bronwyn stayed in South Africa to work. For the next 3 years, their relationship grew stronger and their love for each other blossomed. For 3 years, they lived in different countries – different continents in fact! For 3 years, they wrote and they telephoned and they made trips to visit each other as often as they could. And after 3 years, they had had enough! So Bronwyn packed up her belongings and moved to the UK to be with Ollie.

And this past December, this lovely long distance love affair finally became a happily ever after. Ollie + Bronwyn traveled back to where it all began and were married at the exclusive Steenberg Golf Club, near South Africa’s Cape Town city center. After looking through these stunning images sent to us by their talented photographer, Eric Uys, the thing that’s really pulling at my heartstrings is the look of complete contentment and sheer happiness that was captured in virtually every image. Bronwyn is glowing and Ollie looks like he won the lottery of love.

From the bride herself: the day was INCREDIBLE! The weather was stunning, everything went according to plan and it was really a day of celebration and love! I had finally married my soul mate and it was just incredible!!

Gorgeous wedding!!

Adelina Souza

Great style, well documented. Looks like they had a wonderful day filled with beautiful memories!

I have to say that part of the reason this melted my heart so much is that my 18-month-old is named Bronwyn, and it just got me to thinking that that is going to be her someday. Thanks for sharing….

Denise Hull

Beautiful photos – the bride is lovely, the story is so sweet. The location is unreal, having the mountains in the background are perfect, they look like they should be on a postcard!

bronwyn humphries

Thanks everyone for all your comments – it was truly a magical day and Eric captured everything beautifully! Thanks again Shelley for choosing our wedding photos to feature on the site – a real honour!!!!!

Jenn

What a heart-warming story. True love really does conquer all. The pictures are AMAZING, and you can see the love in their eyes in every picture. I have to say that part of the reason this melted my heart so much is that my 18-month-old is named Bronwyn, and it just got me to thinking that that is going to be her someday. I can only hope she has such a great story to tell!!!

Kaye

What an amazing story! It is a testament to the power of true love. Very inspirational and heart-melting! It looks like an amazing wedding…the scenery is spectacular, and the photography really caught the happiness of the day. Even the little children look very happy to be there (something you don’t always find when little kids have to be dressed up and photographed!). VERY well done. Thanks for sharing this story and beautiful photos!

Anne Marie Johansen

The Warmth of Winter

Convinced you’re totally sick of winter? One look at Kristen + Aaron’s engagement photos will have you quickly deciding winter is hands-down your favorite season. I thought I was ready for winter’s end, but as I look at these photos, I find myself singing aloud “let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.”

While photographs in winter can often bring a chill to your bones, photographer Genevieve Georget of Fifteen:Fifty-One Photography from Ottawa, Ontario, created a setting that looks so incredibly cozy and welcoming. And really proves that all you need is love to keep you warm. Doesn’t it look like Kristen + Aaron could stay cuddled up on the couch forever, no matter what the weather is doing around them? I’m sure it helped that Kristen had superbly warm-looking (but still totally chic) boots on and a cozy white sweater that matches the scenery. And Aaron was bundled up in his wool coat. Unfortunately, Genevieve wasn’t as lucky and she ended up with a frost-bitten ear during the shoot! All in the name of love, right?

The Christmas balls hanging over the couch give the look of a mini winter wonderland made for just this couple. Don’t forget to check out the bride’s nails; her pink french manicure is to die for!

Kristen + Aaron are getting married in August at a waterfront-winery, which means their engagement photos and wedding photos will be two very different sets of pictures. See? Their love lasts all year-round through any weather.

Angela Banica

Wow, these are great! How creative, this photographer went all out – the sofa, the sparkly balls – very nice!

This spread is only as it should be. True and amazing talent always shines through. A beautiful couple displayed amazingly by an awesomely talented photographer. Very well done Gen.

Wanda Dabrowski

I absolutely love every one of these photos. Attractive couple, great outfits, fantastic props – love the sparkly Xmas ornaments… great idea! Like the couch too :)

Marilyn

Stunning photos shot by an amazing talent.

Albert

A great looking couple captured in the beautiful Canadian outdoors. Must have been a lot of heat on the set because the couple looked extremely cozy…I was looking for the fireplace but it is invisible!

Very talented photographer not only to create this concept but also capture the emotion. Sorry to hear about the frostbite! I can tell this is just the start of a brilliant career.

Exquisite eye Blueberry Wedding Blog.

Lindsay

Beautiful article and pictures… possibly some of my favourite from Gen’s collection. I think the ornaments are a creative touch to these amazing pictures. I’d definitely consider a winter wedding after seeing these. Great job Gen!!!

Heather

Gen has a way of capturing the soul, spirit and personalities of all whom she photographs. Intimate moments. Her composition is exquisite and her timing is perfect!

Jim

What wonderful photographs! My absolute favorite is the one with Kristen partially hidden by and looking over Aaron’s shoulder. I can just hear the kids now, “Mom, is that really you”.

Congrats on the feature Gen. You’re truly amazing :)

Kate

To the blueberry wedding blog,
Thank you for celebrating the talent of a creative friend that I have long admired. Gen’s passion for visual storytelling is so inspiring! So proud of you Gen! Aaron and Kristen look amazing!

Victor Sinclair

Your opening sentence was perfect. A photo shoot like this is really a total paradigm shift for most of us thinking about winter and weddings. Having my anniversary on June 25th, I can tell you that over the years I have met countless people with the same anniversary. It’s the 80/20 rule once again. 80% of the couples pick 20% of the dates… so in the year where the 25th is a Saturday, the chances of getting a good hall, a good DJ and a great photographer like Gen are completely out of the question and you pray for a cancellation….that is unless you’re booking 2 or 3 years out… and who does that these days. On the other hand this February 26th, just about every hall north of the Mason Dixon line will be empty, and most of those wedding planners, DJs and Photographers will be open.

It’s also eye opening to see truly just how Beautiful Winter can be. Have you ever been to Niagara Falls in the winter. Hands down way more pretty than the summer. The ice crystals that form every where are a wonder of nature. So it is with these shots… so much beauty around to see. These are only engagement photos but Kristen and Aaron got it right, the spectacular beauty frames this wonderful couple like no summer shot can. As many of us get older we get sucked in by the false popularity of complaining of the doldrums of winter…slush, driving and cold, which blinds us to the spectacular beauty of winter, that given the gifted eye of Gen behind the lends captures it all for an eternity.

Cynthia

You can feel the love!
Beautiful couple!

Thank you so much for the feature!! I couldn’t be more excited!!!

A small town’s reunion turned love story

This next engagement session is making us hope this snowy winter actually sticks around a little longer – just so we can see a few more of these dreamy winter sessions. But there is something a little extra special and romantic about this shoot, sent to us by Caitlin den Boer of Adelita Rose Photography.

Maybe it’s the unique setting of the shoot, with the interior of the old brick structure exposed to nature and all of its elements. Or the knowing glances and intimate embraces the photographer caught of this gorgeous couple, Courtney + Emily. The coy little grin that spreads across Emily’s face as Courtney whispers sweet nothings in her ear, adds a little something too. Perhaps it’s the way the two barely seem to notice the snow falling down in front of them, as they glide across the ice and cozy up beneath a seemingly warm, white blanket of love.

Then again, it may be their story we fell in love with. A small town. An old pub closing. A reunion of sorts for the town. Emily was there and so was Courtney. And somehow – in this seemingly small town – two unfamiliar faces met for the very first time. And the rest – as they say – is history.

Maureen Montgomery

Amazing! I love the blue photo near the end – looks like it could be on a cover of a romance novel – love it!!!
